BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the design, specification, selection, and services relating to rotating machinery including gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, pumps, and large packaged equipment ie power generation.

A specialist and detailed knowledge of the major machinery types, to include centrifugal, axial and reciprocating compressors, pumps, and gas/steam turbines will be required. A good working knowledge of machinery rotor-dynamics, machinery performance, calculations, lubrication, shaft sealing, and machinery selection criteria is essential. Field experience in the manufacturing, performance testing, commissioning, and trouble shooting of machinery systems is strongly desired. Also required is a working knowledge of industry standards for machinery and the ability to develop and maintain technical standards and guidelines.

The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, machinery manufacturer, or end user company. Personnel would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of rotating machinery applications in the offshore (including platforms and FPSOs) oil and gas project including LNG environment to include concept, front end engineering design, detailed design, commissioning, and operations.

Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies. Performs advisory and consulting work for the organization as a recognized authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialized area.

The minimum qualification requirements for this position are a first degree in Mechanical Engineering and a full professional qualification as a Chartered Engineer (full member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or a recognised equivalent)
