The Lead Material Controller is responsible for all activities of the Material Control team to ensure the materials are properly controlled to meet the project requirements in terms of cost and schedule.

The Lead Material Controller will be working on a project reporting to the Project Control Manager and has an advising role to the Project Delivery Manager(s).

You will (amongst other activities):

  • Prepare the Material Control Management Plan;
  • Setting up Material Control procedures and the implementation thereof;
  • Implementation and set-up of Enterprise Resource Manager (ERM), the material control system;
  • Interfacing with Engineering, Supply Chain and Construction regarding the material control process, in terms of alignment of issued data, revisions thereof and technical support;
  • To be responsible of issuing data to Supply Chain and the Constructions Yards for procurement;
  • To ensure changes in the project, impacting on materials, are followed up and closed out;
  • To define and adjust the wastages as per project requirement;
  • To be responsible of the control of bulk materials at construction site and timely and correctly registration and documentation thereof;
  • Advise Delivery managers by providing Workfront and Risk Analysis;
  • Interfacing with Project Cost Control to provide material data for forecasting and estimating purposes;
  • To be responsible for the usage of the surplus during the project and the consolidation at the end of the project.

You offer

  • Communication skills: you will need to speak to people with multiple backgrounds and seniority level within the organization;
  • Accurate: you will need to be critical towards data and not be taking the figures and explanations for granted. Figures provided will need to be correct and reliable;
  • Ownership: it is crucial to feel responsible & accountable of his/her deliverables;
  • Project Management Skills: you will need to read schedules, budgets and management procedures;
  • Team player: you will work with multidisciplinary and international team members;
  • B.Sc / M.Sc degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a cost engineering study;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a material control / cost engineer position;
  • Experience in an EPC project and experience in data handling and databases is required;
  • Fluent in speaking, writing and reading English.
