A school in Lewisham, London is looking to appoint a candidate who can join their team and support a Year 4 student on a 1:1 basis who is working at Reception level. As an SEN Teaching Assistant you must share the same passion and enthusiasm for supporting vulnerable children and young adults and you must adopt the schools policies of support, inclusivity, development and empowerment. The school has been Ofsted rated as ‘Good’ and this is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a dedicated team and gain first-hand classroom and SEN experience that can contribute to a career in education, teaching, mental health, psychology or special needs.

Responsibilities:

  • You would be expected to work on a 1:1 basis with the student, in support of the class teacher
  • You will be helping the student to engage in their learning and stay focused on their work
  • You will help to deliver activities and you will work with staff and family members to ensure the safety and well-being of the children

You must be a recent Graduate with a focus in mental health, care or special needs. Experience working with Special Needs previously or training in Moving and Handling or Team Teach is desirable but not essential.
