The platform engineering group at Condé Nast International is looking to expand our skill set to include Site Reliability Engineering. As we launch new sites, and relaunch old sites, we want to build a world class operational organisation allowing developers to own their applications while having being supported by site reliability to provide the best experience to our customers.

Historically, we've had different technology stacks in markets all over the world. Now we are working at unifying our core platform including our CMS, web stack, data, and cloud infrastructure. We are committed to building and growing our centralised capabilities in London while harnessing local market expertise working intimately with colleagues in all areas including editorial, commercial, data and strategy. We care passionately and know intimately our brands.

We’re building a Kubernetes platform for use around the world in our markets. Our main challenges include; providing a first rate customer experience to every customer in every market, facilitating Continuous Delivery for application teams around the world, and building our application for complicated markets such as China.

You will be working with an amazing tech stack with a chance to deploy infrastructure globally, working with a cross-functional team of talented engineers.

You’ll be joining the platform engineering group. We are responsible for building and rolling out a global Kubernetes platform, built in AWS, for the deployment of applications that will serve hundreds of Condé Nast websites around the world. You will work alongside the application development teams in CNIs London Headquarters to build a scalable, highly available, resilient platform for use by engineers around the world.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of the team; improving engineering practices.
  • Be enthusiastic about learning new technology and ways of working.
  • Raise the bar on all work.
  • Work within the team; driving high standards and delivery.
  • Own and develop the chaos engineering processes utilised through the organisation; gamedays, chaos monkey, gremlin etc.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver new systems and software into production.
  • Lead and facilitate post-mortem incident management to drive improvements in the platform.
  • Implement and manage error budgets for engineering teams to maintain our high quality bar.
  • Own site reliability across our portfolio of high profile, high traffic sites, including Vogues, GQs, Wired, Glamour etc. Defining operational KPIs and monitoring which allows us to meet these goals.
  • Second line support & call leader for major incidents (rota based).

Essential Skills & Requirements

You will have prior experience working in a Site Reliability Engineering function. Driving operational quality through; reducing knowledge silos, embracing failure as a chance to learn & improve, leveraging common observability practices & tools, and most importantly automating everything that can be automated.
