Our services are delivered in a way which supports the global nature of our firm and our clients, enables our fee earners to deliver exceptional service to our clients and to do that in a way which is efficient and effective. Our Centre in Manchester is the first site to be established in the emerging Freshfields Global operating model. Our aspiration is to establish further sites in the US and Asia-Pacific in the coming years. Function Overview The IT Department is responsible for providing technology and support to enable fee earners and business services employees to operate efficiently both internally and with their clients. The IT department is comprised of two functions, Customer Services and Technology Services. These two functions work closely together with the shared goal of delivering strategic business value through the application of technology. IT operates as a global team with regional presence in most of our offices. Our centralised IT infrastructure is maintained and managed by Technology Services and Customer Services provides all business facing support and services.

Role Purpose

The Business Analysis Team enables the firm to articulate needs and the rationale for change, and to design and describe solutions that deliver value.The DRIVE program is the largest technology project ever undertaken by the firm and will improve control, efficiency and standardisation. In summary the Drive systems include -a new business inception system (Intapp Open);a new finance and practice management system (3E);a new online analytical reporting dashboard (the Portal)a new expense; system (Chrome River) for Germany, Austria and France;Enhancements to the time capture system (Intapp Time).

The requested role is needed to establish and ensure an ongoing life cycle management by -

  • identifying need for customisations and adjustments;
  • carry out user experience tasks;
  • establishing a change request management;
  • manage the request backlogs;
  • foster stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Applies tools and methods to identify the user experience, characteristics and tasks, and the technical, organisational and physical environment in which the product or system will operate;
  • Analyses business processes; identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and recommends new approaches;
  • Gathers information from the customer to understand their needs and detailed requirements. Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, using feedback to assess and promote understanding of need for future changes in services, products and systems. Captures and disseminates technical and business information;
  • Ensures that there is a business perspective on how new technical capabilities will be delivered to the business, including planning around key business cycles, selecting appropriate customers for pilot, etc;
  • Support Enterprise Architecture activities, such as capability planning and modelling; data and information gathering and management;
  • Grow relationships with key stakeholders across Global Technology and the firm;
  • Liaise between technical and non-technical stakeholders;

  • Experience with Finance within international organisations would be appreciated;

  • Proven experience with TR3E or Intapp products would be a seen as a benefit;
  • We except the individual to have previously worked in an international environment;
  • Knowledge of SCRUM/ and usage of JIRA would be preferred.

Key Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Previous experience in a global organization;
  • Stakeholder management skills;
  • Considerable work experience with one or more of the following systems will be an advantage

Desirable Technical Skills

  • Strong elicitation techniques, targeted to the audience and environment;
  • UML (including use cases, activity diagrams and state diagrams);
  • Stakeholder analysis;
  • GAP analysis and modeling;
  • Process re-engineering;
  • Requirements management and traceability;
  • Experience of existing systems in use within the firm.
