Our Academy Graduate programme has launched and we’re looking for a Junior Technical Project Manager with exceptional talent to join our exciting, high-tempo creative agency.

Successful applicants will join our London office on a fixed term contract early September 2019. You will embark on a 12-month programme working on different projects within our Production Technology team.

Reporting to the Head of Production Technology you will be responsible for the successful delivery of technology. You’ll develop a close day to day relationship with other Imagination teams, freelancers, and contractors to conceive, develop and deliver projects for many major global brands.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across different events and projects taking place in the UK as well as internationally.

No day will be the same. This is a very hands-on problem-solving role, learning what can be and what cannot be done with technology. For example, a VR headset might work great on its own, but how could we use 50 VR headsets in the same room?

As a flavour, before our team go on site they would usually carry out testing at our workshop. This involves setting up the network, computers and monitors. Checking for damage and any problems from previous shows. Installing updates and new software. Then packing up the kit, drawing up load lists, ready for trucking to site.

Whilst on site, they would run in the CAT5e networking cable and configure the networking equipment. Setup the computers running custom software. At the end of show all equipment needs to be packed up ready for trucking back to the warehouse.

There will be plenty of opportunity to learn about and apply lateral thinking to new technology. The close knit team has cross functional skills with backgrounds spanning mechanic design, electronics and IT, so you’ll be surrounded by experts and have plenty of support along the way.

The travel involved varies enormously depending on projects and their locations. Typically, the team has 4-10 trips away per year. Most trips are 5-7 days in duration and usually involves some weekend working.

Core skills you can expect to learn or expand existing knowledge of are:

• IT networking skills such how to crimp at CAT5e cable, how to configure a router, switch or access point

• Basic understanding of IPv4 networking - such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS

• The importance of VLAN's and ACL in network management

• How to install Windows and Ubuntu onto a computer

• How to use disk cloning tools to roll out a disk image to multiple computers

• How to use small computers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi

• The importance of using good monitoring tools

If you are looking to learn the basics in a broad range of IT and electronic technologies and to push the boundaries about what can be done at a live event, then we would like to hear from you.
