Head of Financial Control

About the Role

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely Financial reporting and accounting both for internal and external reporting purposes across each of Kindred's offices in accordance with corporate policies and local regulations and accounting standards. You will also lead the local Financial Controller organisation in each office.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the local finance teams in 5 different locations and manage its learning and development needs.
  • Implements accounting policies set by the Group, coordinates systems and procedures, and prepares operating data and special reports as required including interim and year-end financial statements
  • Manages the monthly closing process for timely completion and drives the resolution of agreed actions
  • Ensures accurate financial reporting by acting as a local accounting subject matter expert and resource to the business by reviewing balance sheet and P&Ls for accounting compliance. This includes monitoring and approving changes to the chart of accounts and the associated report mapping
  • Supervises preparation of and reviews financial statement reporting packages for each office. These include: monthly and quarterly P&L reviews comparing results to planned and prior year results with explanations for variances; balance sheet reporting packages comparing balances to prior audited results explaining any significant fluctuations and detailing the balances to allow for adequate management analysis; and quarter and annual external reporting packages
  • Establishes and administers local tax policies and procedures, and ensures local regulatory and tax requirements are adhered to
  • Supervises and coordinates the preparation of reports to local authorities
  • Assures protection for the assets of the business through the implementation of internal controls set by the Group
  • Leads and facilitates external reviews/audits from a local perspective
  • Ensures legal compliance by the financial accounting teams
  • Support the implementation of the new Finance Shared Services Center
  • Work in collaboration with the Head of Shared Services to ensure local accounting is accurate and delivered within the timelines set by the Group
  • Works with the Head of Shared Services to review and update any process documentation in line with changing accounting standards
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant training and other compliance activities related to the role to support the delivery for sustainable and responsible growth
  • Travel to the other offices in Europe will be required from time to time

Position Requirements

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controllership role
  • Big 4 or equivalent background is likely to be preferred but opportunity exists for the right candidate with the right skills and attitude
  • A successful profile is likely to include a period in audit to provide the relevant technical expertise, combined with at least one post-qualification role in a head office/group finance function
  • Some exposure to technology, leisure or media sectors is likely to be helpful, but it is not specifically required to have any background in the gambling sector or indeed to be a gambler
