The role
We are currently recruiting a motivated and confident Tax Trainee to join our Tax Department in our Edinburgh office with a joining date of September 2015. We are offering the successful candidate the opportunity to train to become a Chartered Tax Adviser, to study towards the ATT and then CTA qualification. We offer exciting development opportunities, with the chance to build your knowledge in many of the sectors in which we operate, combined with excellent training and support. You will work in a friendly and progressive environment, within a team. You will be involved in duties such as preparing and filing tax returns, carrying out manual reconciliation of tax liabilities and liaising with clients over the phone or in person
On the job training
For your ATT and CTA studies, we use first-class tuition centres, alongside our own internally developed technical training programmes, to help you prepare for your examinations. This is supported by our dedicated training team who will monitor your progress throughout your studies. We endeavour to provide a learning experience that is both challenging and rewarding. You will have the chance to grow as well as receive managerial support. You can expect your responsibilities to increase steadily throughout your time with us. Once you have gained some experience, this will entail taking on your own portfolio of clients. As your understanding of taxation issues grows, so will the complexity of your workload.
The individual
The successful applicant will be outgoing and resilient, with excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. Candidates should be selfmotivated, display a positive approach to work and have the ability to get things done. In addition, they should possess the confidence and professionalism to establish credibility at all levels, be commercially minded and be able to develop a clear perception of business requirements, having an awareness of the wider economic context that our clients operate in.
Requirements
Applicants must have a 2:1 degree (expected or obtained) in any discipline and at least 300 UCAS points, or equivalent, gained at one sitting, plus excellent Standard results with a minimum grade 2 in English and Maths. Applicants will not be expected to have prior knowledge or experience with tax. We also consider applications from school leavers with excellent Standard and Higher results (or equivalent).
Qualification
You will train to become a Chartered Tax Adviser, with study towards the ATT and then the CTA qualification.
