MI Data Analysis

Working within a busy Systems/MI Team, providing support for users and continually auditing/ monitoring data input to ensure optimum output. The role will also include developing and delivering exceptional quality HR reports, analysis and HR Dashboard functionality for the wider Force.

You will need to link closely to the client, understand their requirements and challenge where appropriate. Supporting the HR Manager to ensure processes and systems are managed and updated to offer the best possible service across the Force.

Position Accountabilities:

  • To collate, and present performance information, in an appropriate format, as required by the Force Executive and other internal customers.
  • To review, analyse and interpret performance data using a variety of statistical techniques and undertake further research as required. To provide the Force with a more informed understanding of performance issues and underlying causes.
  • To complete statistical returns to the Home Office and Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS), in accordance with the Annual Data Requirements (ADR).
  • To undertake survey research, including questionnaire design and the analysis and interpretation of responses.
  • To prepare written and verbal reports using information from a variety of sources.
  • To actively participate in briefings, meetings, seminars and workshops, to gather present and exchange performance related information.
  • Where appropriate, provide advice and guidance in relation to the use and interpretation of published performance data.
  • To be an active team member and support the Senior Performance Analyst and Head of Performance Quality and Review in all aspects of performance management.

Position Specifications:

  • A good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent), particularly in relation to Mathematics and English
  • An understanding of research and statistical techniques. This will include the ability to devise a research proposal, determine the most appropriate methodology, formulate and test hypothesis.
  • Experience in working in the business area of performance management, research or statistics.
  • Ability to research, collate, analyse and interpret data from a wide range of sources including computerised and manual record systems.
  • A significant level of skill in the use of Microsoft Office products, data mining tools and other relevant computer based information and analysis systems (e.g. Excel, MS Query).
  • Able to work methodically and logically with an enquiring and analytical mind.
  • Significant IT skills with the ability to work with new systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and manage competing demands.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative.
  • Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • ‘Customer’ focused approach to service delivery.
  • Flexible approach to work, receptive to new ideas and willing to embrace change.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a research/statistical discipline or other relevant subject
  • An understanding of Human Resource metrics and performance measures.
