Purpose of the post:

Boutique, luxury retailer seeks a Junior Designer for Store Development to join the property team at our Central London office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and tactical support to the Property Project Manager on UK and foreign retail store development. This will include creating new stores, carrying out renovations, and providing maintenance of boutiques and concessions.  We are looking for an ambitious individual who wishes to actively contribute to fast-paced and challenging luxury projects. Main duties and responsibilities:

The role will encompass liaising with shop-fitters, internal and external teams as well as internal teams in order to ensure successful and well-executed design and construction.

To communicate on a regular basis with Property Project Manager and Store Designer as well as Visual Merchandising in order to ensure that all designs are approved by all parties involved, and that they are submitted per schedule.

To produce architectural design drawings, concept sketches, and documentation needed.  Hand sketches, CAD draughting, and 3D modelling will be required.  An ability to articulate design briefs and requirements through architectural drawing is essential.

To travel to site after the installation is complete (particularly for flagship stores), in order to check the quality and to follow up with the shopfitters in order to resolve any snagging issues.

The ideal candidate will have an architecture or interior design background with a knowledge of shopfitting / construction and a sound understanding of design methods. Proficient computer skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Sketch Up are essential. Degree educated in a related interior design or architecture is required.

Candidates should possess an appreciation of design, pay attention to detail, and have a thorough awareness of the retail environment. They should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and project management skills and enjoy a flexible team environment working to deadlines.
