Crest Nicholson Chiltern division are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Apprentice to join their team at our 'Fuller's Grove' development located in East Challow, Oxfordshire. The trades in which we are welcoming applications from are Carpentry.

The applicant must be committed to learning, with a genuine interest and commitment to this exciting and dynamic industry. Apprentices will be working alongside experienced tradesmen on a daily basis on site and will complete off-the-job training at a local college on a day release basis.

Typical tasks include:

  • Interpreting technical drawings & specifications and understanding how the product fits into a house or building.
  • Understanding the performance and uses of different types and grades of wood.
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate wood for the job.
  • Using hand, power tools specialist tools and traditional techniques to measure, mark, cut, shape, join, fit, fix finish wood/timber according to the drawings / specifications.
  • Erect permanent structures such as roofs and walls.
  • Erect temporary structures such as formwork/shuttering.
  • Dismantling temporary structures.
  • Assessing risks and working in a safe manner.

Required Skills

  • Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Good spatial awareness.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to listen and follow instructions.
  • Good practical skills.

Training to be provided:

NVQ & Diploma level 2 or 3

Functional Skills L1 or L2 in English and Math’s (if relevant GCSE grades not obtained)
