As a Project Management Office (PMO) Intern at Airbus Defence & Space, you will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the PMO and gain an understanding of project management lifecycles and methodologies. Working alongside an experienced PMO and project managers, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex and high-profile projects within Space and Secure Communications, allowing you to develop broad understanding of all areas of the PMO. Airbus Defence & Space is aligned with the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Tasks & accountabilities

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

  • Providing a common set of project & business process tools (Maturity Gate & Design Review status/tracking, Key Milestone, Issues & Dependencies status/tracking)
  • Ensuring that the data integrity of the Project management systems is adequate for the management of Secure Communications KPIs and supporting the resource forecasting process.
  • Process Mapping project lifecycles
  • Conforming to recognised best business management practice
  • Processing technical documents received and to be dispatched, ensuring document control and configuration. Managing the Document Management Systems.
  • Helping to build a Programme Governance aware culture within the business including appropriate education in the processes, tools and reporting of business winning, projects, services including strategic and tactical compliance with corporate policies

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Research and Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge Management techniques
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Determined and focussed approach to complete a task. (Completer/Finisher)
  • Undertaking Diploma / Degree qualifications
  • Understanding and/or experience in working within a PMO including scheduling, logic checking, Earned Value, Risk Management
  • Understanding and/or experience in resource management, planning and forecasting
  • Good working knowledge of the MS Office suite including MS Project and Visio
  • Proven team building skills with aspiration to management level
