Job Description

The Bid Finance Manager role is part of the Worldline UK Finance team which reports to the Worldline UK CFOs and together with the other members is responsible for the commercial shaping, strategy and pricing of all new bids/contracts and renewals/extensions of existing ones.

The role would be suitable for ambitious individuals looking to gain all round commercial experience.

The primary objective of the Bid Finance Manager is to provide commercial leadership to secure profitable new business for Worldline UK, typically working on a variety of deals across industries and of various sizes.

This work has four main streams:

Supporting the Bid team

  • Plan and Co-ordinate the inputs from the technical teams in order to meet bid timelines and the customers formatting requirements.
  • Escalates appropriately when issues are identified in timelines and planning
  • Work as independently as the only Finance person on smaller bids and support colleagues on larger sales opportunities. Providing day to day financial and commercial support for the bid team as required
  • Providing input to general bid team discussions to support the creation of a winning offer for Worldline. Identifying interfaces between bid team members and ensuring these are escalated for discussion e.g. solution/pricing interfaces
  • Proactively seeks lessons learned from colleagues to enhance own scope of knowledge and increase Wordline' win chances

Adherence to Deal Governance

  • Use standard Worldline tools to produce business case/financial model to support each deal including the production of profit and loss accounts, cash-flow, balance sheet and investment appraisal metrics e.g. Payback, net present value, internal rate of return
  • Present the financial elements of the bid to the Worldline Governance team, appropriately highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Review the financial elements of client and contractual documentation to ensure they reflect what has been approved through the governance process
  • Ensuring that bids are peer reviewed by others in the team in a timely manner to identify any errors.
  • Highlight at an appropriate level of granularity key levers which could impact the financials.

  • Updates stakeholders appropriately and in a timely manner

Client Meetings

  • Bid Finance Managers may be required to attend client meetings and/or calls in support of the sales teams and other financial architects on the deal.
  • Able to demonstrate that the client's needs are being considered, manages client expectations

Essential Skills

  • Typically educated to a degree level and hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIMA/ACA/ACCA) in a numerate or business-related subject or have demonstrable experience working in pricing/bid environments
  • Highly proficient in Excel (up to but not necessarily including Macro skills)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, experience of working with the operations, business, technical and sales functions
  • Confident in internal interactions with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Influencing skills – internally and externally with clients
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Understands the implications of decisions and actions on overall business profitability
  • Willing to travel as necessary in line with business needs

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of creating bespoke pricing mechanisms e.g. fixed, variable, tiered, unit pricing
  • Experience of working in a large matrix organisation
  • Collaborative in approach – is able to consider the client needs and the Worldline business needs
