Job Description

NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V.) is engaged in the exploration and production of oil and more importantly natural gas in the Netherlands and the Dutch section of the Continental Shelf.

NAM (50% Shell, 50% ExxonMobil) is by far the largest natural gas producer in the Netherlands, accounting for around 75 per cent of the natural gas produced in the Netherlands. Many of the fields and facilities are in mature and late field life stage, but at the same time the NAM is bringing new fields on-stream with innovative development concepts.

The fields onshore (minus the Groningen-field) are managed by Asset Land, divided in three main areas: Noord (gas fields Fryslân, small gas fields in Groningen), Oost (oil- and gas fields Drenthe, gas fields Twente) and West (oil and gas fields in Zuid-Holland, gas fields in Noord-Holland).

The External Relations & Communication Team supports the Assets Groningen, Land and ONEgas in both internal communication and external relations, stakeholder management, social investment and social performance and mitigating non-technical risks.

Social acceptance is a clear business enabler for NAM, and given the current external conditions (earthquakes and anti-fossil lobby) it’s the number one issue that needs to be addressed. Both current and planned activities require high interaction with communities, civil society, opinion leaders, media and government ensuring NAM receives both legal permits as well as a license to operate.

Due to that, the importance of external relations and communications and stakeholder and non-technical risk management and has become more intense and crucial for NAM’s reputation and business delivery.

You will provide the business strategic advice and support on areas of reputation, opportunities and risks. You will also provide full ER-support to (critical) projects including developing and executing external relation and stakeholder management plans, liaising with external stakeholders and identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues regarding NAM’s reputation.

Your main duties will be to:

  • Provide ER-advice and support to senior business leaders.
