Job Description

If your communication skills are as strong as your flair for SAP HANA and ETL and you’re looking for a chance to step out of your comfort zone, you’ll relish this guiding role with us, injecting innovation into in-flight projects

What’s the role?

As a Design Authority – SAP HANA professional, you’ll be part of Shell’s Management Information Centre of Excellence (MI CoE) with a brief to bring new innovations surrounding the SAP HANA platform into our standards and guidelines and then embed them in in-flight projects.

Reporting into the Design Authority Team Lead, you’ll take care of the day-to-day management of one of more of our HANA platform tools (BW, HANA, SLT, BODS, BI4, SAPUI5). You’ll be looking to drive innovation – whether that’s by rolling out new features to in-flight projects, or through Shell vendors (SAP, TIBCO, TABLEAU) where gaps are identified . Naturally, you’ll champion Quality Assuring (QA) for projects, making sure you uphold our standards and guidelines.

You certainly won’t be stuck behind a screen all day. You’ll be working collaboratively with colleagues across the business. You’ll often talk to our enterprise architect group to identify and prioritize innovation items in line with Shell's overall SAP strategy. You’ll also run monthly capability sessions to pass your latest innovations to the developer base.

What we need from you

As a Design Authority – SAP HANA professional, you have plenty of professional experience under your belt, including working with Agile projects and implementing Cloud, PaaS and SaaS solutions. You don’t need to have worked in Oil & Gas before, but you do need some exposure to a continuous improvement environment and knowledge of IT controls, compliance and security.

Technically, your skills include as many of the following as possible:

  • Strong modelling experience ideally in a SQL-based environment (HANA or equivalent)
  • Experience with SQL scripting in HANA 1.0 and HANA 2.0 native HANA development experience
  • Strong ETL transformation services experience, via SAP Landscape Transformation server (SLT) or SAP Data Services
  • Good experience in front-end reporting tools, preferably self-service tools (SAP Lumira, Spotfire, Tableau) but also with custom development in SAPUI5
  • Work with tools including: SAP Landscape Transformation server (SLT) / EIM; SAP Data Services; SAP BI 4.x / SAP UI5; transport tools such as RevTrac or Redwood

Besides these key criteria, it’s your personal skills that will make the difference. As a Design Authority SAP HANA professional, you’ll need the confidence to work with different stakeholders, understanding their requirements and translating them into front-end reporting solutions. You’re happy to challenge if needs be, influencing and steering the decision-making process.

We’re keen to hear from men and women who can work well independently and who want to engage with new fields and develop their skills. You’ve ideally shown you can think beyond your day-to-day remit – for example helping to estimate front-end implementation efforts for budgeting and planning purposes.
