We are looking for an outstanding and passionate student to design and research on novel electronic components and devices. Example activities involve high speed electronics (>25Gbps), FPGAs, optical transceivers, photonic IC design and fabrication, precision analogue control systems and complex board integration.

Responsibilities

Depending on skill set responsibilities may include any aspects of design, build, test, and integration of analogue, digital, high frequency and optoelectronic systems, paper study , simulation, schematic entry, circuit board layout , board population (semi-automated and hand soldering), bench debugging, microcontroller embedded firmware (C++), manual test, test automation (python) or system integration.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Master or PhD program in Electronics, Physics, Computer Science, or related degree. 
  • Will be comfortable with some of the responsibilities listed above. 
  • As well as a strong theoretical grasp of their field, the candidate will have a demonstrable ability for hands-on engineering, and an appetite to learn new skills.
  • They will be keen to explore multiple designs, take an open-minded approach to solutions, and use a combination of skills that will help follow an idea through to the realization of a research prototype.
