A job in Research & development

In a business whose very purpose is to create a brighter future, that future begins in Research & Development (R&D). This is the hotbed of ideas for brands, products, packaging, manufacturing and technology.

Unilever Future Leaders Programme R&D

The Unilever Future Leaders Programme (UFLP) is about having a big impact, right from the start. It’s about growing iconic market-leading brands from day one, in a culture where growth means positive change, impact and influence as well as market share. It’s about learning and developing fast. You will be given hands-on responsibility from day one, receive continuous business mentoring from senior leaders, enjoy excellent skills, leadership and personal development training. You will be part of a varied, fast-changing, positive environment and a work in talented and passionate teams. Firsthand experience- it’s the fastest way to learn.

Learning by experience

As a future leader of our business you will start with an exciting placement of two months in the Sales Force where you will get introduced to the core of our business, the store floor. You will share this experience together with Future Leaders (trainees) from all other disciplines. During this period you learn more about our business, meet other Unilever future leaders, our clients and get familiar with our products.

Thereafter you will take on three R&D placements within three years, and may get the opportunity to work internationally. You will work in cross functional and global teams. You will get hands-on experience with real projects in which you can make a genuine business impact. Projects such as designing new product innovations and rolling these out across the globe, looking at longer-term science and technology projects in one of our Global R&D Centres and developing products from concept idea to full-scale production.

Learning through people

You will receive personal attention to focus on your development. You will work with talented and passionate people, get business mentoring from experienced managers, advice from a trainee ‘buddy’, as well as having the UFLP network to call on.

Formal learning

You will follow a world-class learning roadmap that encompasses a range of general and leadership skills programmes. Core areas supporting your journey to become a leader are: building business awareness; analysis and problem-solving skills; and management of self and others. On top of this you will have additional training to build specific R&D skills and knowledge and all the support you need to build your personal development plan.

Onboarding

When you are a Unilever Future Leader (trainee) you will experience a comprehensive onboarding programme. This programme is set up to provide you with the needed knowledge and skills to fulfill your role as efficient as possible. This structured onboarding programme exists of divers in-house training modules, workshops and interaction with senior leaders on local, regional and global level. The programme makes sure that all Unilever Future Leaders can integrate fast and easily into Unilever, so that they can make a faster impact in the business.

Young Unilever Managers-network

All Management Trainees are invited to the Young Unilever Management-network (YUM). This network provides you with a lot of fun and interesting activities, like workshops, drinks and a ski trip.

Tons of opportunities

At Unilever there a tons of opportunities to develop and do fun stuff besides your core job such as being involved in recruitment activities, organize charity events or become the chairman of the YUM-network.
