We’re looking for talented graduates with influencing skills and a strong commercial focus to join us at this exciting point in our journey to achieve our collaborative ambition – to be the best at solving customers’ energy needs. You’ll have the opportunity to experience working across wide range of areas while building both specialist and people skills.

Nature, Scope and Principal Accountabilities

On the Commercial Graduate Programme you will guide the way on this journey as you understand the energy business and develop the skills and knowledge to drive commercial results and future strategy for the business.

Following a week-long induction with graduates from all of our schemes at our state of the art facility at Cannington Court (Somerset) in September 2019, you will spend 6 months in four different assignments during this 2-year programme where you will develop the skills and expertise that are critical to our success and will be invaluable to you during your career with EDF Energy.

You will develop a broad set of skills, with the opportunity to specialise towards the end of the programme when you will stream into a permanent role. Assignments could include:

Gaining hands-on experience of managing projects and business change across the Customers business within Business Change where there will be opportunities to work on different types of project that impact our people, systems and ways of working providing an excellent opportunity to learn about the whole organisation.

We are continuing to guide the way with our innovation accelerator Blue Lab. Here you could find yourself working on new and emerging topics such as connected homes, solar, electric vehicles, blockchain and batteries.

The growth in renewable electricity generation has been a key feature in recent years and EDF Renewableshas responsibility for projects in the UK. A placement within this business may cover certain aspects of project development such as origination, project management and valuation, all of which is geared toward reaching investment decisions on wind, battery and solar assets.

Working in partnership with the Project Supply Chain and Finance functions, the Project Controls Directorate within Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C are responsible for development of an integrated project controls strategy, plan and associated service that will create and maintain stakeholder confidence. This enables the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C Programme teams to safely and efficiently deliver its contracted scope to agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

We are passionate about your development during the graduate scheme and you will have a tailored training path that will help develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours both during the scheme and in your future careers. We place a particular focus on your soft skill development, with a range of learning interventions ranging from stakeholder management, leadership skills through to operational awareness. You’ll be given time to invest in your development with the expectation that you will commit to both the training and implementing your learning post course back into the business. You will have the chance to learn from others and build networks that will help you moving forward in your careers.

As part of your wider leadership training, you’ll be trained as a STEM Ambassador which will allow you to inspire our future generation of engineers at STEM events nationwide. To get the most from our training during the programme you’ll need to be flexible about your location and prepared to move from one location to another, as assignments rotate you could find yourself at any of our sites across the UK.
