As Interaction & Service Designer, you play a key role in the creative team. You are an expert in user-centred design. Together with a creative lead, researcher, visual designer, front-end developer and client stakeholders you work on a variety of projects, from understanding to concept to prototype to delivery. Your work goes far beyond just creating screens: actually, we almost never use wireframes anymore. You feel responsible for context, customer journey and content, and integrate them into your design. Because your passion is to constantly make digital products a bit better and more user-friendly.

You understand that ultimately, we solve business problems using design. Based on a well-founded understanding of people’s needs, you contribute to the product vision, scope, functionality and approach, all the way to figuring out the details of how a product works for its users. You like to work Agile and actively look for proof of the value UX adds to the project.

Naturally, you ensure that end-users are actively involved in your design process: whether that means walking into the local coffee house or flying across the world for an (extensive) usability test. By demonstrating design, you help the client become more digitally mature; they can’t live without your support, understanding and structure. You know how to rally the troops around that one idea that will make your client even more successful in the digital world.

In the Guild of interaction designers within the organization that come together for half a day every two weeks, you contribute to the atmosphere and expertise of yourself and your peers. You are curious to continue learning and developing yourself and plot your own course for that, accepting and giving constructive feedback to your fellow designers.

This is what you bring

The ideal candidate for Interaction Designer is confident, ambitious, self-aware and combines a sharp analytical ability with professional empathy. Strong communication and presentation skills are put to good use in conversation with stakeholders and users. The challenge is to craft pragmatic solutions for complex problems that stand up to rigorous testing. You define problems and solve them using an evidence-based rationale. You think about systems and the people using them, not just the user interface. You work in a structured way: others might think you’re a bit of a list-junkie, but you know better: the project needs that. You manage well with other fields related to Interaction Design: you know your methodologies, when to use them and have done that in previous projects. In the team you are responsible for making it work, making it feel good and to present your ideas in an effective manner. Naturally, you have a Bachelor or Master degree in interaction design or a related field.

Here’s a list of things:

  • experience working as an interaction designer for large clients is important
  • you understand the dynamics of a large/corporate company
  • you regularly show up to work in a good mood
  • you appreciate the value of working with people from a diverse background
  • you speak English and Dutch on professional level, and you feel the urge to replace Lorem Ipsum with realistic content whenever you see it.

What can you expect?

  • A competitive salary based on your experience
  • Access to Udemy and Cognizant Academy digital libraries for your continuous learning
  • NS business card to cover your commute expenses
  • 25 days of paid holiday per year
  • A laptop and a smartphone
  • A pension scheme
  • Organization driven by technology – we have a tremendous technology backbone
