Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) has more than 40,000 students and over 4,000 employees at 11 institutes and 15 locations in Rotterdam. This organisational structure enables RUAS to closely connect with different professional fields and educate students in a rich context, which is a key element of the strategic course of RUAS. There is a wide variety of programs to choose from across all educational sectors, except for the agriculture sector.

The Centre of International Affairs (CoIA), part of the central service department of Education & Development, is responsible for all matters related to internationalisation within RUAS. With approximately 28 staff members within CoIA, one of the goals is to inform international students about studying at RUAS and to support them in all their administrative requirements. CoIA also supports (inter)national students in their preparation for a period of study abroad.

CoIA is a.o. responsible for the housing of the international students of RUAS and support of staff, institutes and students in the organization and reporting of international projects. Now that one of our staff members will leave the organisation. The Centre of International Affairs is looking to recruit a Student Housing Officer combined with the function of Project manager (1.0 fte) with immediate effect.

As Student Housing officer your main responsibility is the management of the available rooms for international students in close cooperation with SSH (Stichting Studenten Huisvesting).

What are your responsibilities? You…

  • will have an adequate overview of the occupation of reserved rooms
  • will define the volume of reserved rooms
  • will define the allocation of rooms to the different students
  • will proactively prevent room vacancies
  • will advise on possible growth or reduction of the volume of rooms and contract dates, in close consultation with the coordinators internationalisation
  • will take care of the communication regarding prices, availability, room approvals and cancelations, in close consultation with SSH (Stichting Studenten Huisvesting)
  • will decide on the allocation of rooms in close consultation with the CoIA colleagues.
  • will advise students on possibilities of alternative housing
  • will maintain a good relationship with SSH
  • will maintain a good relationship with the coordinators internationalisation of the institutes who need housing for their students
  • will maintain a good relationship with the municipality, housing providers and other universities

As Project Manager your main responsibility is making sure that externally funded projects run according to internal and external requirements from the awarding of the grant to the closing of the project.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Relationship management with international university partnerships within the Erasmus+ program and outside of Europa for both student and staff mobility.
  • Taking care of the project administration, finances and reporting.
  • Being the contact person between the funding organisation, project leaders, international partners and internal financial administration.
  • Establishing and renewing international university partnerships.
  • Digitalisation of the international university partnerships via Erasmus Without Paper initiative.
  • Updating the international partnerships database.
  • Collecting data and drawing up graphs for Erasmus+ and exchange statistics.

Profile

  • Your education is at HBO level.
  • You are customer oriented.
  • You possess knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • You have excellent command of English and Dutch, both orally and in writing.
  • You have a proactive and independent attitude.
  • You work precisely and accurately; you have a strong attention to details
  • You have a good understanding of finances
  • You are a team player and flexible.
  • You easily identify bottlenecks and communicate about this with your colleagues.
  • You have perseverance to do what is needed to make a project a success
  • You can prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines
  • You are articulate and confident when communicating with people
  • You can work independently and with changing teams, and switch between these two modes quickly)

Job offer

Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Rotterdam) offers you a temporary contract with the perspective of a permanent contract (1 year D4). The salary range is HBO-CAO grade 9 (€ 3.018,49 minimum and € € 4.158,87 maximum gross per month) for fulltime employment, exclusive of 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Our fringe benefits include excellent training facilities, an attractive pension scheme, and allow for a proper work/life balance.

All staff members of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences must be able to submit a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag, VOG) issued by the Dutch Minister of Justice and Security.
