What’s the role?

The Technical Safety Engineer will support the large energy transition and circular economy projects on site Moerdijk. The technical safety engineer will be part of the Process Safety and Process Engineering team, which provides process safety and process engineering support to the production units in Moerdijk. The role is an expansion of the team due to the large project workload.

This role has the following accountabilities:

  • Lead, participate, plan, organize and scribe HSE risk assessment workshops and studies, including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPA, PSSR, Physical Effects Modelling and ALARP assessments
  • Deliver the overall ALARP demonstration report for projects
  • Identify and judge the risk of facilities/design and advise practical solutions to reduce such risks.
  • Assist in resolving any discrepancies in the safety aspects of the design standard by practicable and cost-effective solutions and recommendations
  • Provide support for the management and health of process safety barriers, HSSE critical equipment as well as HSSE critical activities
  • Support "Fit-for-purpose" implementation of Global HSSE Standards and develop and maintain applicable procedures and guidelines
  • Provides expert advice and input to projects and operations on the Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP) in order to meet ALARP
  • Participate in incident investigations, audits and Go and Sees

What we need from you?

We are keen to speak to individuals with process engineering, technical safety engineering or similar background. You must have proven experience in a process engineering, technical safety or process safety related function.

We also hope you possess the following skills and experience:

  • A technical education in preferably process engineering or similar
  • Ability to think and communicate in scenarios and barriers
  • Working knowledge of technical risk assessment tools such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, physical effects modelling, Fire safety.
  • Working knowledge in work processes like management of change, Instrument protective functions, Emergency response, ensure safe production.
  • Experience with applying relevant industry codes related to process safety
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work within teams
  • Ability to facilitate process safety assessments like HAZOP, LOPA, PSSR
  • Work experience on a site and Dutch conversation skills is highly beneficial (English will be the main language in the projects). For non-Dutch speakers willingness to learn conversational Dutch and language training support will be provided.
  • In role you will need to pass a “technical authority” assessment within 12 months.
