In the role of CPM Consultant, you will advise the client in the corporate performance management (CPM) process. You inventorise and advise what the client needs to streamline its financial processes and make data transparent. You find out what the client needs and advise the client so they can streamline their financial processes and make data more transparent. You work at the intersection of IT and (financial) information flows. Your goal is to provide management with access to correct, reliable and timely information. You can gather the needs and guide the process towards gathering these needs.
As a CPM Consultant you are involved in providing CPM solutions from the design to the implementation. Because you work for different clients, usually on location, you have the opportunity to gain insights into a variety of business operations and cultures. Additionally, you will often work together with one or more colleagues on projects and you can also be deployed on several projects simultaneously. As a CPM Consultant you take on an advisory role and are a process specialist. Besides the advisory role you can also be deployed as a workshop leader, trainer and project leader.
In order to determine the customer’s needs, you brainstorm with them about their strategic plans. You analyze a variety of projects related to (operational) planning, budgeting and forecasting, but you are also familiar with management reports and (data) analyses. When your advice is implemented, you will work together with the team to realize the transition. You will be involved with a client from A to Z and you will be (co-)responsible for the end result.
Given the diversity of clients, it is very important that you can easily empathize with different environments. Every organization is different, so every solution has a different interpretation and dynamics. Keywords are flexibility, result and customer focus.
The profile of a successful CPM Consultant has a good balance between three basic components:
1. Consultancy skills
2. Financial knowledge
3. IT knowledge and skills
