As a Salvage Diver, you will make your mark by contributing to the operational part of emergency responses and wreck removals worldwide. Teamwork is key in salvage activities, which take place both under and above water. The work consists of miscellaneous tasks like welding and cargo handling but also work on deck.
As a Salvage Diver, you will be working for SMIT Salvage, one of the largest salvage companies in the world and part of the Boskalis Westminster N.V. and working closely with agents worldwide. SMIT Salvage has an extensive track record and its clients include many leading insurers.

Abbe's final Traineeship assignment is in Qatar, after a year on projects in Mexico, Nigeria and Abu Dhabi. 'I learned quickly about our inter-office accounting methods and systems and haven’t seen much of the Netherlands the past year!' He also had time for his hobbies: outdoor sports and travel.
‘On a project, our working day is twelve hours: taking measurements on land and water with advanced equipment, using sound and GPS signals. We process the results in a project office to create maps and charts. The unpredictability and variety are the things about this job that appeal to me.’
