By joining SAMCo, you will participate in a high-quality professional working culture that will help to develop your career in asset management.

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important topic in the investment world, where it is often referred to as ESG (Environment, Social and Governance). This is leading to new client demands, additional regulatory requirements and the availability of new types of data. To be on top of these developments, SAMCo has a dedicated ESG team. We are currently looking for an ESG Advisor to join this team.

What’s the role?

As ESG Advisor, you will play a vital role in achieving the ESG team’s main tasks: policy development, stakeholder dialogue and implementation. These three elements are closely related, as an effective ESG policy is supported by relevant stakeholders and is achievable from an implementation perspective.

In this wide-ranging and diverse position, you will collaborate closely with the asset management teams and functional departments across SAMCo. This position will provide a unique opportunity to build up your experience across all facets of ESG in asset management.

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contribute to ESG policy development, provide client advice and follow up on client requests

  • Collaborate with asset management and risk management teams to investigate and develop methods for ESG integration in portfolio management

  • Implement (regulatory) requirements and standards such as Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation (SFDR), Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and Taxonomy Regulation

  • Have operational involvement in ESG surveys and working groups on behalf of SAMCo’s clients

  • Participate in external manager engagement

  • Investigate ESG-related data sets, manage development of ESG data tools

  • Review ESG research and monitor trends in the industry

What we need from you

Alongside your master's degree with top grades from a leading university, you must have an experience in the asset management industry, preferably within the ESG space. Furthermore,

  • As your input in ESG-related decision making and client advice will be an essential part of the role, you will be able to translate complex analyses into concise conclusions and recommendations. You will possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.

  • As the ESG Team will be the main driver of ESG activities within SAMCo, you will have a hands-on, proactive attitude and a proven record of taking initiatives and delivering tangible results.

  • For the successful development of ESG policy and the execution of related activities, the ESG team will collaborate closely with SAMCo’s asset management teams and functional support departments. You will be a strong team player who is effective at building relationships with stakeholders with a variety of backgrounds.

  • The scope of the job is broad; to succeed you will have to oversee a wide variety of activities, quickly comprehend new topics and combine strategic thinking with attention to detail.
