Backend Developer

We're looking for a stellar backend developer with great project management skills to join our team! Your technical and creative input will play a vital role in delivering innovative products to our clients.

As a backend developer, you love working in CMS solutions and playing around in databases, APIs, and data connections that push you to the limit. You care about architecture and know how to document your projects through industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Code, test, debug, document, and maintain software applications using established coding standards and methodologies
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Next.JS, GraphQL, and CMS solutions like Drupal and WordPress while also staying up to date with new techniques. Think about new updates, structural enhancements, performance optimizations, or new APIs
• Master of the latest database management techniques, like MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Understand the principles of frontend development by understanding HTML, CSS, and browser capabilities
• Maintain the development workflow by using Git branches and tags, and specific package managers and build tools like Composer and NPM
• Use tools like Lighthouse to measure performance and follow (Google) guidelines
• Develop in a local environment like Vagrant and be compliant with the DTAP workflow
• Provide technical and conceptual input towards your interdisciplinary (developers, designers, producers) team and the client throughout the development process
• Engage with professionals through conferences, workshops, online blogs, newsletters, and other interactions to stay current with best practices and emerging practices
• Create accurate estimations by analyzing functionalities, risks, and possibilities
• Deliver high-quality work to clients by listening to their challenges and advising them in the process

Requirements

• Between 5 and 8 years of experience as a backend developer
• Understanding of source control (experience with GIT and GitHub is a plus)
• Experience with React is a must (experience with Next.JS is a plus)
• GraphQL knowledge is a plus
• Basic Linux knowledge is a must (Ubuntu as a base is a plus)
• Thorough knowledge of the browser DOM and basic HTTP request / response lifecycle
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices
• Working knowledge of the latest techniques and technologies
• You are a team player, have good communication skills, and know-how to analyze and prioritize
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written; Dutch would be considered as a plus
