INEOS Grangemouth are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to be based within our new Central Operations Team. The new role has become available as a way to improve planned periods of maintenance on our site and offers a unique opportunity to work across various assets within the Grangemouth complex.
The TAR mechanical engineer will:
- Provide technical standards / specifications for the work e.g. pipe / valve specifications.
- Lead Mechanical work pack preparation with assurance that content & quality is maintained including -
- Integrity inspection of static equipment scopes e.g. drums, towers, exchangers etc.
- Operations cleaning and inspection scopes
- Machinery overhaul – enabling, performance & repair scopes
- Trip & control valves overhaul / repairs
- Pipework & isolation valve repairs
- Plant Mods & Project scopes are detailed and correctly planned for the TAR execution
- Review the prepared Written Scope or Examination (WSoE), ensure the scopes are clear and achievable and challenge the scope when appropriate to ensure alignment with schedule and risk.
- Agree the scope of work for each valve e.g. repair of existing or upgrade/replacement if applicable where there may be a schedule, cost or other driver to meet the TAR KPI’s.
- Prepare Scopes of Work (SoW) or Engineering Information Transmitalls (EIT) when required to ensure all activities and any contingencies are captured before issue to the workpack specialists.
- Input to the validation of workpacks and ensure they meet event requirements.
- Identification of risks and preparation of contingency or mitigation measures.
- Ensure that Mechanical long lead delivery items are defined, agree specifications and order/procure
- Ensure that engineering / technical data is fully incorporated to work packs
- Provide technical & constructability input from TAR team into Asset Plant Mods & Projects
- Agree TAR prep-engineering milestones with TAR Preps Leader & TAR manager
- Monitor and update the preparations control plan.
- TAR focal point for the Valve workshop contractor.
- Agree valve specifications. When required, identify and prepare any deviation to INEOS specifications.
- Check & approve TAR isometrics are correct and follow the standards and specifications.
- Review the testing requirements for scopes of work and identify and record any waivers required.
- Agree the scope of work for each valve e.g. repair of existing or upgrade/replacement if applicable where there may be a schedule, cost or other driver to meet the TAR KPI’s.
- Ensure all test procedures are updated and available.
- Define quality plans and ensure regular auditing of contractors / suppliers.
- Accountable to ensure all Mechanical workscopes are defined and integrated into the TAR execution plan complete with resources.
- Identify any Mechanical specialist contractors / vendors and input into the TAR Contract Strategy.
- Responsible for preparing scopes of work, tenders and then bid technical and commercial evaluation & award for TAR Mechanical contractors and specialists.
- Input into constructability reviews to ensure that complex/critical work is planned and executed safely and within schedule.
- Will assume the role of Technical SPA for the Mechanical contractor(s) after contract placement.
- Ensure any technical queries are recorded, tracked and progressed to close out.
Requirements for role
- HNC/HND or greater in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication/Construction
- 5+ years’ experience in similar role with TARs/Shutdowns
- Knowledge of P&ID’s, isometrics and equipment technical specifications.
- Experience using Maximo or SAP would be an advantage
- Disciplined planning and organisation skills together with an ability to work under pressure.
- Has a logical, proactive and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to recognise key issues
- Ability to interact effectively with direct multi-disciplined teams, both Ineos and 3rd Party
