Job Description:

Located on the North Wales / Cheshire border, Broughton is the largest Airbus plant in the UK and focuses primarily on the manufacture of wings for the Airbus family of aircraft.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to take responsibility for all manufacturing operations within a programme / build stage, ensuring on time and on cost supply of quality products to our customers. You will have the experience needed to strike the right balance between hands-on engagement in daily activities and tactical deployment of the company objectives. This role will have the breadth and resources to shape how manufacturing operates and how materials flow on the shop floor. You will have line management responsibility for assembly / test, manufacturing, engineering and logistics / stores.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will add value through operation and Continuous Improvement of an effective Lean based Management System, plan for the development of skills and competencies needed to deploy the production plan for the area of scope, and ensuring that Production Managers implement this plan effectively. The Manufacturing Manager ensures that the manufacturing area for which they are accountable meets EHS requirements and that their team follows the process.

Experience in high volume / high variety production of complex products and systems is essential. You should also have demonstrable experience leading and improving a skilled team to deliver consistently high performance as people management is a key part of this role. To achieve the strategic plans for the development of manufacturing you will need excellent prioritisation skills, high energy, clear focus, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and be calm under pressure.

What skills will I need to be successful?

  • High priority on Safety in the workplace
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations
  • Strong team leadership experience, interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others, coupled with strong communication skills
  • Competent with LEAN tools and techniques
  • Experienced in cost management

What skills would be beneficial?

  • ERP experience ideally SAP
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Ability to interface with external parties
