The Vlisco R&D team is looking for a (Senior) Development Engineer who will start developing and implementing new innovative technologies, while retaining the unique Vlisco DNA and ensuring the future security in delivery, costs, quality , image and customer satisfaction.

You will be responsible for project management of process related innovations and developments to make sure that the factory is future proof. All implementations need to be in accordance with guidelines and agreements with regard to HSE, legislation and regulations within the framework of sustainability and social responsibility.

Key accountabilities

In this position you have various responsibilities, within different parts:

Development

Ensure implementation of the technical product portfolio based on motivated research and realization questions from Product, Manufacturing, Sales and Design. In here:

  • Drafting, creating ideas, drafting motivations and project proposals (PPC), among other things by conducting (preliminary) research, searching for suppliers and materials, conducting trials and testing and drafting initial product specifications;
  • Carrying out feasibility and implementation/release processes up to the moment of production release. This in collaboration with Engineers from the Quality Control (QC) and Continues Improvement and Manufacturing improvement teams;
  • Together with QC, ensure a structured approach and transfer for production release and implementation based on feasibility, costs, efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Taking care of reports and transfer documents.

Leading in projects

As a project manager, leading Development projects;

  • Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams in preparing, executing and delivering product development projects;
  • Oversee planning, organization and progress of work to be performed and collaborate with other teams to bring about product innovation at product and process level;
  • Reports according to the agreed project structure

Advice and communication

  • Together with the manager, coordinate with the various stakeholders (Manufacturing, Product, Design and others) when it comes to establishing an unambiguous project description with regard to new products, color and chemical assortment;
  • Every innovation, renewal or improvement must be accompanied by advice regarding sustainability and HSE aspects;
  • Supporting Manufacturing problems and improvements where knowledge and experience in the field of product and process is required.

Securing and sharing knowledge and skills

  • Securing and transferring knowledge in the field of new products, innovations in product and related new production technology to other departments;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the team with scientific and specialist institutes/universities, suppliers and manufacturers;
  • Share acquired knowledge to support the Development process.

Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering;
  • 5 + years relevant experience in the field of Textile, Digital Printing & New technologies;
  • You have experience in project management;
  • Proficiency in English and Dutch;
  • Ability to interact and work in an international team-based environment;
  • You are strong in stakeholder management and know how to apply the right communication method at different levels.
