Inalfa Roof Systems designs, develops and manufactures sunroofs and open-roof systems for the automotive industry. Our customers are BMW Group, Daimler, Chrysler Group, Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, Citroën, Chery, Geely, Hyundai Kia, Land Rover, Renault, Nissan and others. Inalfa Roof Systems Group is headquartered in Venray (Limburg), the Netherlands, and has a global footprint with facilities in Europe, Asia and the America’s.

For the Global Quality department in Venray we are looking for a university student (in the field of adhesion) who is interested in a graduation assignment of 6 or more months. Within the scope of the assignment you will support and work closely together with our company’s specialists in the field of adhesion.

You will report directly to the Product Safety Manager. The Product Safety Manager is responsible to create, manage and coordinate the global Inalfa Product Safety System (IPSS). Adhesion is one of the focus areas within the scope of this new system.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

Define which actions are required to safeguard an OK adhesion for all glue/tape based processes within the serial production of Inalfa Roof Systems. The actions defined have to be translated into a global standard that at the same time acts as an early warning system to detect (possible) adhesion failure. In the event of a detected (possible) adhesion failure the changed process will be able to generate fundamental inputs to a learning organization aiming for continuous improvement.

Process improvements will be defined based upon:

  • Definition of market best practice of adhesion systems
  • Effective Inalfa global leveraging of best practices
  • Checking of existing Inalfa standards / workflows / processes / equipment definition / work station layout
  • Identification of gaps in existing Inalfa standards / workflows / processes / equipment definition / work station layout

The assignment is aimed to define a standard for best-in-class adhesion processes and adhesion equipment. As a part of the Inalfa Product Safety System this is also one of the steps to further safeguard vehicle occupant safety.

Within this perspective the assignment is not only limited how to improve processes/equipment on itself, but also how to initiate a change in mindset of the involved employees for product safety awareness.

Scope

  • The scope of this assignment is (limited) focused to the operational activities from SOP to EOP of our global programs.
  • The target is to create a practicable roadmap to save adhesion processes.
  • The selection of adhesion materials used (cleaner, activator, primer, glue, tape, etc) does not fall within the scope of this assignment. This because the selection of these materials and validation of the bonding systems is done in project phase. The layout of the production lines and related processes/procedures to assure a correct use of these materials on the other hand is a part of the investigation (best practice system definition).

What do we expect from you?

  • You are a MSc student in Automotive/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant
  • Good communication skills in English
  • You are a Creative, Independent and Pro-active student
  • Excellent knowledge of bonding/adhesion systems
  • Automotive minded
  • Knowledge of analytical models/ theories

What can you expect from us?

  • Attractive working conditions and self-development opportunities.
  • Short procedures, fast decision making and open communication structures.
  • Friendly and informal atmosphere.
  • Innovative leader with a strong drive to win!
