Your role

As a Senior Contract Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Deloitte Consulting and engagement leadership on strategic contract matters during the delivery of specific large scale, high risk engagements within the Public, Private or Financial Services sectors. These contracts are large-scale, complex, professional services consulting engagements, often incorporating a high degree of technology delivery - each with their own objectives and challenges requiring a professional hands-on approach to Contract Management.

You will have responsibility for:

  • Leading the contract management end-to-end lifecycle of major client facing consulting engagements
  • Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with Deloitte engagement Leadership and, in many cases, Client commercial and officials
  • Being the trusted advisor to engagement leadership providing expert advice to delivery teams on risks and critical commercial and contract management matters- offering innovative solutions to real world and/or contractual issues
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure financial targets are met, provide commercial analysis and management reporting. For instance, margin improvement opportunities and risk mitigation strategies are identified and ultimately achieved.
  • Becoming the “go-to” individual for researching and resolving complex contract issues whether ad hoc issues and/or formal disputes
  • Educating and advising the engagement teams on key contractual requirements and commercial best practices
  • Developing and implementing contract management tools, templates, methods and processes for individual engagements and/or wider client accounts
  • Collaborating with Legal/Risk Managers during negotiations to identify risks and issues, and develop risk mitigation solutions that protect Deloitte Consulting throughout the term of the engagement
  • Working closely with engagement teams to propose and support negotiation of new business (change orders Scope of Works or new Projects), with a primary focus on ensuring timely and appropriate adjustments to contract schedule, price or other terms as circumstances and impact assessments dictate
  • Where appropriate lead subcontracting activities, working alongside engagement /technical lead, engaging Legal/Risk Managers during negotiations as necessary
  • Analysing and assessing potential impacts associated with contractual disputes, and assisting in negotiations with clients and subcontractors to resolve informal and formal disputes
  • Providing training to the business to support Deloitte’s overall Consulting operations delivering fit for purpose execution of Contract Management principles.

Work pattern: This is a permanent full-time contract opportunity. We are open to considering candidates who are seeking to work on a part-time basis, with a minimum of four days (80% presence) a week. Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Location: Location is flexible within the UK. However, the role will require occasional domestic and international travel to Deloitte and client offices.

Your professional experience

Essential:

  • Direct client facing contract management experience in complex, multi-million pound information technology (IT) consulting, IT outsourcing, and/or professional services projects
  • Working directly with senior level executives and large engagement teams
  • Strong commercial understanding of engagement deal economics and profitability levers
  • Ability to evaluate risks associated with large professional services engagements
  • Ability to articulate complex contractual details to wider project team and stakeholders
  • Ability to review contract documents such as SoWs and CRs and provide redrafts and suggested wording to ensure that the obligations and commitments of both parties are clear, risks are understood and outcomes are achievable
  • Experience in a consulting partnership or a similar large entrepreneurial business setting
  • A track record of forging relationships with client procurement, finance or legal teams

Desirable:

  • Experience with contract negotiations and resolving contractual disputes
  • Project Management experience on large scale consulting/professional services engagements.
