Your opportunity

Do you enjoy solving complex challenges? Do thrive engaging with varied stakeholders to build valuable software whilst delivering a great user experience? If so, this opportunity is for you.

Deloitte is looking for a mid-senior level developer to join its talented Development team to help build and support the software systems that are used by tens-of-thousands of practitioners across the firm and underpin services to clients.

Your role

Your role will focus on helping our internal teams architect and develop solutions which support our practitioners to support our clients. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders, including Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers and Testers across the whole product lifecycle. You will provide technical direction to other team members and deliver high quality, valuable software.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full lifecycle application development using various programming languages
  • Owning solutions from concept, to delivery, through to support
  • Proposing technologies/technical approaches to solving business problems
  • Working closely with multiple stakeholders across the product lifecycle
  • Working collaboratively as part of an empowered agile team, delivering value early and often
  • Supporting and working within a culture of continuous improvement
  • Coding and debugging complex applications
  • Guiding and mentoring team members
  • Ensuring code meets our defined quality standards
  • The role does not require any line management responsibility; but may require you to technically mentor more junior members of the team.

Your work, your choice

How long does impact take? How long is a piece of string? How many seconds does a solution contain? How can we possibly tell? After all, impact can be huge or small. Immediate or years in the making. At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk.

We, therefore, carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. If the working pattern you are looking for is not specifically indicated below, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements.

Location: UK Wide (excluding London)

Work pattern: Permanent full time (professional working day, Monday to Friday)

The role will report to a Development Team Lead.

Your professional experience

Essential:

  • Application development experience in .NET (C#), JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Exposure to Front-end frameworks React or Vue
  • Experience working with business users/stakeholders to understand business problems, gather requirements and developing design documents including functional and technical specifications
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies such as Scrum
  • Strong understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles
  • Demonstrated experience of integrating multiple complex systems, using a wide range of tools and techniques including the use of an enterprise service bus and messaging
  • Experience working as a developer or an application architect through system development, migrations, updates or implementations
  • Ability to perform code and design reviews
  • Demonstrated understanding of code analysis, code conversation and automated testing tools
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to articulate solutions to a senior as well as a detailed/technical audience
