Your role

The comms business partner role advises and supports the CBS leadership team, partnering with key stakeholders to plan, develop and deliver engaging communications. Reporting into the Head of Central Business Services, the successful candidate will work closely with the CBS leadership team to

  • Develop and deliver an internal communications and engagement strategy to support CBS across UK, India and Poland
  • Advise CBS leadership on their communications agendas including key messages, tone of voice and channels, with a priority focus on the Head of CBS
  • Develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies to support change within CBS, in particular, but not limited to, for teams and capabilities being moved into CBS from elsewhere in the business
  • Drive ongoing communications and engagement to help embed and land change within CBS and play a role to help embedding change across the business as appropriate
  • Own, manage, produce, review and edit regular people communications
  • Plan, lead and deliver several experiential (mix face to face and digital) engagement events per year, including ‘all hands’ meetings and quarterly CBS extended leadership team meetings
  • Adapt and contextualise firmwide campaigns and messages for CBS audiences
  • Work closely with other CBS colleagues including the CBS People & Purpose Group
  • Stay close to the CBS leadership – through strong relationships and both qualitative and quantitative feedback and measurement techniques, have a clear view of what is working well and areas that need improvement
  • Feed CBS updates (client stories, key successes, talent initiatives etc.) into firmwide communications, working closely with the central communications team
  • Bring new ideas to the table, push the boundaries of existing communications best practice and deliver new and highly effective communications
  • Be an active member of the firm’s wider Internal Communications network, working closely with them to deliver firmwide messages through appropriate local channels and share best practice and knowledge
  • Build and maintain relationships with other stakeholders outside CBS with responsibility for our transformation agenda to ensure our communications are aligned
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Quality, risk and reputation: manage and uphold the highest of standards throughout, consistently meeting the firm's standards and regulatory requirements.

Location: Based anywhere in the UK. Occasional domestic travel and very occasional international travel. In line with our DeloitteWorks future of work programme, you will be able to work from home frequently if preferred.

Your professional experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills and high EQ, with ability to build solid relationships and gain credibility with senior stakeholders, advising and influencing them
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering effective and engaging internal communications in a large/matrix organisation, preferably in a communications business partner or closely related role
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, with a keen eye for detail, able to understand differences in leadership style/voice and adapt as required
  • Strong understanding of tone of voice and a natural journalistic/ storytelling style
  • Experience of large scale physical or digital experiential events preferred
  • Ability to quickly understand our business and what makes our people tick, and to produce engaging, inspiring communications
  • Sound judgement and the ability to translate firmwide communication principles to specific parts of an organisation
  • Resilience, confidence to stand firm and say no when needed, while remaining diplomatic and consensus-driven.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent project management and organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure and deliver against challenging deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Great team player, with the ability to drive their own agenda.
