Your opportunity

Shaping the early experience of our newly promoted and lateral hire partners (first 18-24 months), to create an empowering experience which underpins their transition into the partnership.

The new partner transition process plays a critical role in delivering our NSE Ambition and key priorities/ambitions of the UK Executive. You will drive operational excellence and execution of the new partner transition process, partnering closely with key HR and Business stakeholders, including members from the firm’s executive.

The primary objective of the Partner Matters team is to deliver a differentiated, integrated experience to all our partners, from the point they become partners in the firm, to the time they retire from the partnership. This role will play a key part in managing of one pillar of the team’s core portfolio.

Your role

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the new partner transition journey for newly promoted and lateral hire partners (first 18-24 months) in the UK geography, and (for some parts of the journey) across North and South Europe (NSE). This will include continuous enhancement of existing processes and creation of new elements, whilst driving convergence across the Businesses and NSE geographies.

Flexibility will be required in the role. As part of a small team you can expect to work across the Partner Matter’s portfolio in peak times and/or where critical deadlines loom, getting involved where additional capacity and/or expertise is needed.

As a result, this is a terrific opportunity to gain a broad range of operationally critical experience, working in a high-performing team, creating an exceptional experience for the most senior people in our firm.

Some key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Ensuring the operational management and delivery of an enhanced new partner transition journey, working closely with counterparts in the Learning CoE to ensure that processes complement and align with each other to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Designing and delivering an annual New Partner Welcome Event for newly promoted partners across NSE, and helping to shape the NSE approach to the global Deloitte New Partner Seminar.
  • Understanding the overall experience that lateral hire partners have in their first two years, improving transition support and further enhancing the experience.
  • Supporting the review of the end to end Entry to Partnership process with Technology & Digital Services (TDS) to identify priority areas for technology development, helping to design and implement new technology solutions.
  • Reviewing, updating and refreshing all new partner transition materials and communications to ensure they reflect our current approach.
  • Continuing to develop and deliver diversity initiatives within the new partner transition process, such as the Women in Partnership programme.
  • Supporting the Entry to Partnership Admissions Process Manager with the delivery and embedding of a recent strategic redesign of the partner admissions process (where required and during times of peak activity), helping to manage change and ensuring Businesses and all relevant teams are fully informed, supported and engaged.
  • Collaborating successfully with the range of other teams who contribute to the end-to-end delivery of the Entry to Partnership process, to drive the approach (including the Executive Office, People & Purpose, Partnership Committee, HR, Learning, Partner Finance, Partner Compliance, Partner Development, Partner Admin, ER & Ethics, and Communications).
  • Contributing to the delivery of key Executive deliverables (both presentations and reports), ensuring they reflect and align with our Business and its ambitions.
  • Integrating successfully into NSE for management of the NSE reporting requirements, sharing of best practice, and to ensure the UK approach aligns to the NSE common standard.
  • Influencing others in the Partner Matters team (and beyond) as a role model and exemplar of effective leadership and teaming. Positively contribute to the team brand, culture and purpose.
  • Taking on and leading other discrete projects and ad hoc priority areas as and when they emerge during the year, whether they relate directly to the stated pillar or not.
