ABOUT THE ROLE

The Engineer implements, manages and continuously improves application technologies and integrations with adjacent technologies. The engineer seeks to understand business requirements of a solution or reverse engineer existing applications to support the implementation of a replacement or new application, including configuration variations, automations and process improvements. The Engineer also collaborates with application vendors, product managers, and legal or compliance teams to ensure alignment to company policy and applicable legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement, monitor and operate application technologies (custom-built software, services and predominantly SaaS tools).
  • Establish computing configuration and operating standards in coordination with IT colleagues.
  • Execute application technology projects and support application technology planning.
  • Actively participate in resolving high-priority outages, troubleshooting efforts, and capacity/availability planning sessions.
  • Support security operations processes by monitoring and reporting anomalies related to devices and identities.
  • Monitor technology trends and seek ways to enhance continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assess criticality of applications and automates testing of those deemed critical before upgrades.
  • Provide IT support for issues escalated from level 1 or level 2 related to application technologies.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with IT service desk teams, forming a tight partnership for the mutual success of the teams. Ensure information is flowing freely between the teams to minimise siloed operations and engineering.
  • Work closely with operations, governance and application champions to drive coordination and collaboration throughout the roadmap.

Governance and Key Relationships

Key relationships include application peers, other IT teams such as infrastructure, security, and enterprise architecture, technology vendors, legal and compliance.

ABOUT YOU

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3+ years managing and implementing SaaS systems and applications
  • Basic understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
  • Experience creating scripts with PowerShell, Bash, and other scripting languages
  • Application and Technology tool management expertise: management tools, techniques, monitoring and integration
  • Experience with configuration management, deployment, transitions to service, active directory, collaboration platforms and other cloud-based services
  • Experience with a continuous engineering or other agile methods to keep pace with frequent changes and to reduce complexity
  • Experience using automation to drive continuous improvement
