Description

Founded by British makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury MBE, in 2013, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty revolutionised the face of the global beauty industry by de-coding makeup application for every person, at any age, with an easy-to-use, easy-to-choose, easy-to-gift range. Today, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, continues to break records across countries, channels, and categories. The company now employs over 1,100 people globally and is available to buy in over 76 locations via CharlotteTilbury.com.

The Role

Our Data Science team have high ambitions. We’re leading the charge to leverage our data to create hyper-personalised experiences that our customers love, and improve internal decision making in a way that keeps us running efficiently.

The team is currently small, but rapidly growing; we have a strong focus on personalisation and optimising our marketing efficiency, but there are areas of the business we have yet to tap into: Can deep learning take us to the next level of customer understanding? Can we steer new product development? Can we guide pricing strategy?

You'll be front-and-centre in our efforts to answer these questions, advising the wider business, and leading an excellent team of data scientists to turn the dreams into reality.

Acting as a hands-on technical leader, this role will entail leading your team of data scientists through the full data science development lifecycle from scoping, through to building, and finally deployment. The main responsibilities will be:

  • Leading, coaching & mentoring a growing team of data scientists.
  • Identifying cross-functional use-cases where data science can be applied.
  • Running proofs-of-concept to test feasibility and value, uncovering benefits for our customers and our business.
  • Architecting the future of data science at Charlotte Tilbury, driving improvements in data science ways-of-working and development cycle time
  • Sourcing and processing data, using domain-specific/agnostic techniques.
  • Building production-ready machine learning models
  • Implementing models to realise value, and continually monitoring performance to ensure long-term accuracy.
  • Managing stakeholders – working with teams across our business to balance the north-star ambition with what is immediately achievable.
  • Presenting and discussing interesting insights to the wider business.
  • Collaborating with the wider data family, including analysts, engineers and product managers

Requirements

The role is strongly technical, with a particular focus on technical leadership, coaching and enablement of more junior data scientists. As such we're looking for the right person to have:

  • Experience leading a team of data scientists - not necessarily at 'Head of' level - e.g. you could be a Lead Data Scientist looking for a more strategic role
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, scope and develop impactful data science solutions
  • A creative approach to problem-solving and solution scoping
  • A good grasp of core mathematical and statistical concepts
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and data science techniques
  • In-depth understanding of the intricacies of deep learning
  • Experience with Python, with a good command of typical libraries for data science (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Keras etc.)
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience working with cloud environments & components (e.g. on Google Cloud Platform or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage code using version control
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to describe technical solutions to non-technical colleagues
  • A good understanding of, and experience applying, project management principles to data science work

Charlotte Tilbury is a fast-paced and dynamic environment where nimble mindsets, striving to deliver the best and wanting to be part of a #dreaamteam are key. Even though we have requirements our experience and background are just a guide, we still love to welcome applicants with more or less experience stated, provided necessary skills can be demonstrated. Even if you don’t tick all the boxes – Apply anyway!

Benefits

  • Generous staff discount
  • Generous monthly product gifting
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Hybrid, flexible working with core hours between 10am and 4pm
  • Dog friendly office on Monday and Fridays.
  • Access to Tilbury Treats - discounts on everything from gym memberships to cinema tickets.
  • Other fabulous benefits such as life assurance, birthdays off work and pension contribution.
