Job Description

We are looking for 3 Intern Systems Engineers to work within a highly experienced and motivated technical sales team of around 45 engineers. This team is responsible for the positioning and sale of Fortinet Security solutions within our customers.

The main role of the intern would be to assist in the day-day operations of the UK & Ireland (UKI) Systems Engineering function. This will initially focus on background activities, but as industry, security and Fortinet skills develop then responsibilities will also increase to include some customer facing tasks, such as running product demonstrations.

The successful candidate can expect to learn and develop relevant Security skills in addition to Fortinet product specific skills as well as exposure to leading edge security products. This will be through a combination of on the job training and more formal on-line training and the expectation is to leave with industry recognised certifications.

Soft skills such as presentation and whiteboarding skills, customer engagement etc, will also be developed.

The duties and responsibilities will increase as the skills of the intern develop.

  • Involvement with and ultimately managing the day to day running of the SE/Customer Experience Labs in London and Reading. This will include the following over the course of the year:
  • Develop and maintain lab documentation
  • Developing scripts to increase lab efficiency
  • Operational capabilities including maintaining s/w currency and demonstrations
  • Develop and implement customer demonstrations
  • Assist SE's with setting up and running of 'Proof of Concept' (POC) labs at customer site or in Fortinet Offices.
  • Assist SE's with running customer demonstrations
  • Assist SE's with proposal responses such as RFI's/RFP's
  • Work with SE’s to deliver a successful Fortinet Experience to our customers
  • Assist with any enablement or development activity
  • Participate in Fortinet updates, including working with other departments within Fortinet, for example Marketing team
  • Focus on customer driven solutions
  • Develop a good base understanding of the Fortinet portfolio with appropriate industry standard certification, in addition to attaining Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) 4 accreditation
  • Research topics of interest, extracting relevant points and presenting this back to the SE community

Required Skills:

  • The student should be a 2nd Year Undergraduate Student studying a relevant degree with a strong Network Security or cybersecurity component to the syllabus
  • Basic Networking knowledge is essential
  • A-Level Computing Science or similar would be desirable
  • Strong interest in Network and Cybersecurity

Other Information:

  • Main location would be in London with periodic travel to Reading Office
  • Occasional travel to customer site across UK & Ireland
