Your future plans

By joining the Regulatory and NBAP (New Business Approval) Operations team, you will play a key role in analysing requirements, designing and developing key software and processes in order to ensure business compliance to energy trading regulations. We have an exciting challenge ahead of us in developing our new way of working in a DevOps manner. In joining the team, you will become part of the Business Support IT Domain which is currently delivering a number of key strategic initiatives which influence the energy trading activities of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST).

As part of your role you will learn to:

  • Work in agile model and take responsibility for business critical applications in the Regulatory and NBAP Operations Team
  • Learn about energy / commodity trading covering multiple jurisdictions globally and the regulatory obligations applicable to RWEST
  • Be technology focussed, keeping up to date with the latest cloud technologies, identifying where and how these technologies can be utilised
  • Interact closely with teams across IT and the business (e.g. Risk, Back Office, Front Office) to understand new regulatory requirements, evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Contribute to building high quality software by using your knowledge to implement robust, efficient solutions
  • Communicate progress to stakeholders, end users and to the team
  • Think creatively to ensure immediate business goals are satisfied, while long-term success of the solution is also achieved; we never stop looking for continuous improvement opportunities and ways to reduce technical debt
  • Work collaboratively with the team to define our technology strategy for the future

Your powerful skills

  • Solid experience in .NET, including C# and/or F#
  • Experience of, or willingness to learn, functional programming paradigms
  • Knowledge of at least one modern web development framework e.g. React (preferred), Angular, Vue etc.
  • Experience with AWS / Cloud technologies
  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills and a track record of complex problem solving; a high degree of personal commitment, motivation and positive attitude
  • Have the ability to work independently with a resilience to perform in a dynamic and challenging business environment
  • Experience with relational and document databases
  • Good knowledge of software development best practice, including Continuous Integration

Advantageous, but not a must

  • Hands-on experience with modern ways of deploying applications
  • Infrastructure as code (e.g terraform, cloudformation)
  • Containerisation (e.g. docker)
  • Serverless solutions (e.g. AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)
  • An understanding of energy trading & regulations
  • Experience working with Endur
  • Practical experience using Agile methodologies
