As the Asset Manager for Pembroke gas fired power plant you ensure that operation is safe, reliable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective. You are responsible for the safe management and commercial success of the asset. Furthermore, you are responsible to ensure that current plant integrity and performance capability is preserved and adaptable to meet current and future business needs.

You will report to the Head of Gas and be a member of the Gas technology management team alongside with Gas Asset Management and Gas Engineering & Outage (E&O).

Your tasks:

  • Engendering a strong safety culture through personal engagement at all levels within the organization, and with support contractor organisations
  • Maintaining and enhancing an economically efficient (power) plant operation in compliance with the relevant laws and permits and ensuring a cash-optimized development of the (power) plants in line with the strategic framework of the segment
  • Initiating and implementing improvement initiatives to ensure and enhance the efficiency, profitability, availability, reliability and HSE performance of the (power) plants, in particular market-geared optimization in close cooperation with Asset Management, Engineering & Outage and RWE Supply & Trading
  • Encourage innovative approaches to technical issues and adoption of industry and RWE best practices
  • Ensure that the power station technical and skill capabilities are fully leveraged to realise the full potential of the Pembroke Net Zero Centre opportunity within the South Wales Industrial Cluster
  • Drive change and continuous improvement and have a leading role in the cluster change and continuous improvement processes
  • Representing the power plant sites in public, in dealings with local and regional stakeholders and authorities in close consultation with the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs units
  • Development, motivation and promotion of (power) plant employees at worker, technician and engineer level to secure talent and develop skills
  • Collaborating and sharing expertise and experience within the Gas technology division as a member of an international management team
  • Active contribution in the Gas technology management team

Your profile:

  • University degree in relevant technical or technical/economic discipline with several years of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of power plants
  • Understanding of energy markets, electricity products and interrelations in the electricity markets with advanced knowledge of key business and financial ratios
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strategic approach with very good analytical and conceptual thinking skills and high degree of result orientation
  • Strong leadership skills based on technical and management experience gained in various roles and fields and high social and integrative skills on a national and international level
  • High degree of initiative, commitment and flexibility and strong sense of responsibility
  • Business-fluent English.
