Job Description:

PURPOSE

The Analyst – Risk Reporting (Commodity Financial Trade Validation and Regulatory Reporting) is responsible for the middle-office functions and processes, including validation, confirmation and regulatory reporting of commodity related financial trading activity and support the Risk Reporting Team in its operating activities.

KEY TASKS

Trade validation and confirmation

  • Perform validation and confirmation processes for Marketing financial trades, ensuring accuracy of inputs into risk reporting, settlements and margining processes.
  • Liaising with brokers to correct statements would be required as and when necessary.
  • Periodically updating of clearing broker fee table in Aspect.
  • Monthly upload of exchange fee rebate.
  • Manual update of clearing, option exercised, clearing house, exchange fee and execution broker fees when needed.
  • Monthly reconciliation of third party broker fee.
  • Collation and reporting of trade validation statistics. Following up with relevant stakeholders to address root cause for deal entry or amendment errors.
  • Document workflow instructions detailing operating procedures.
  • Audit support.

Margining and collateral management

  • Understand mark to market (MTM) movements impact on daily Variation Margin (VM) calculation.
  • Support Risk Reporting team with trade level details on VM discrepancy investigation.
  • Follow up with relevant stakeholders on trade capture issues contributing to VM discrepancies.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Possess fundamental knowledge on Commodities derivatives reporting by NFC under EMIR Refit.
  • Manage and validate reporting data to the ERMS, ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of daily submission to DTCC via DeltaconX.
  • Review and address reconciliation results from trade repositories as well as handling of failed reports, errors and exceptions.
  • Follow up on root cause remediation and escalate to Line Manager when necessary or weekly.
  • Able to drive effective and efficient communication with front office, trade validation, information management, external vendor, compliance and relevant counterparties.
  • Keep up to date with latest regulatory requirements and best market practice.
  • Operational back-up for other members of the Risk Reporting team.

Support on-boarding of new trading activities

  • Execution of User Acceptance Testing (‘UAT’) for new business, trading products, trading systems and trade reconciliation tool.
  • Embed back-office trade support and regulatory reporting processes for new trading activities, ensuring consistency of procedures and timings.

Compliance

Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.

Qualifications:

Role-specific knowledge:

  • Risk Control experience in a commodity or energy trading environment, which should include:
  • Knowledge of commodities markets
  • P&L reporting
  • Exposure/Position reporting
  • Value at Risk (VaR) reporting
  • Risk modelling experience in Excel/Access using VBA.
  • Experience with Tableau and Power BI will be a bonus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the calculations behind P&L and exposure calculations for both physical and financial commodity trades which includes options.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders across a global organization.
