WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will work in Wroclaw or Amsterdam as part of the Decarbonization Analytics Team within Energy Insights (EI).

EI develops proprietary models and data foundations on optimal decarbonization pathways of industrial sectors, companies, and even individual assets, including oil and gas, petrochemicals, manufacturing, chemicals, cement, or steel production. As a member of the SI team, you will work closely with our Energy Insights (EI) and Global Energy & Materials (GEM) Practices leadership and colleagues on Client engagements. You will provide distinctive insights, and support to clients all over the world.

The EI team comprises business analysts as well as industry specialists who are responsible for identifying potential decarbonization levers and assessing the underlying novel technologies techno-economic assumptions and implications on strategic decisions. The team works in a start-up environment and is growing rapidly across the globe.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will apply proprietary perspectives, tools, and methodologies to solve the most challenging problems our clients are facing today.

In this role, you will develop the next wave of McKinsey’s decarbonization perspectives and capabilities. You will take ownership of our distinctive suite of tools that address all levels of decarbonization – from an entire sector down to an individual industrial asset.

You will be spending at least 50% working directly with our clients, shaping their decarbonization agendas (incl. evaluating potential decarbonization pathways, analyzing value-at-stake, estimating strategic implementations) or initiating entire decarbonization transformations.

You will also engage in recruitment activities on-the-job and provide coaching to more junior colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering (e.g., oil and gas, chemical, mining, process, industrial)
  • 3+ years of work experience; industry or consulting experience (e.g., from previous positions, internships)
  • Strong interest in Energy topics e.g., understanding of complex industrial systems and decarbonization technologies
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; comfortable working with numbers/quantitative models
  • Intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team with a steep learning curve and a strong commitment to coaching and development
  • Enthusiasm to work in a start-up environment with a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language capability is a plus
