SSCL provides a range of BPO and ITO services to clients across Government, Police and Defence sectors. The Technology Directorate is responsible for the secure design, delivery and support of digital technology solutions, and the infrastructure and applications that underpin SSCL’s business operations.

SSCL have implemented a Single Operating Platform (SOP) for Government based on Oracle ERP Ebusiness Suite, hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. A Similar Police SOP platform is in operation for the Police & Resourcing business and SSCL are currently in the process of migrating MOD clients to OCI as part of its MOD Service Delivery Contract. SSCL is now working with its clients to develop a roadmap for future SaaS ERP adoption across small and large-scale public sector departments. Alongside these business-critical ERP platforms, SSCL has developed an ‘Intelligent Ecosystem’ of contact centre and back-office applications, user experience, automation, analytics and cloud technologies to drive efficiency across the business.

This opportunity is Home Based and Hybrid-Variable, meaning you can work from home or the office as much or as little as you like. There will be a minimum requirement to be in the office 1-3 days per month.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering modern, secure, outstanding IT services to internal business lines, users and clients
  • Leading and developing the Infrastructure Services function, including line management, support and development of IT EUD support, IT operations, server, storage, network, telephony and cloud engineering teams.
  • Leading and supporting SSCL’s corporate on-premise and cloud based server, storage, authentication, security, application, network and telephony infrastructure, and end user technology estate
  • Delivering infrastructure management and support services to ITO clients in line with defined SLA and output targets
  • Handling 3rd party IT suppliers ensuring services are delivered successfully and efficiently
  • Ensuring IT change is delivered in an effective and timely manner, to appropriate quality standards, with minimum disruption to live services
  • Driving continuous adoption of cloud services and automation, to deliver modern and efficient infrastructure solutions and IT support services
  • Working with Service Management teams to supervise and continuously improve end user experience and happiness with IT services
  • Ensuring IT infrastructure estate conforms to all appropriate IT Architecture standards, principles, and Information Security policies
  • Acting as a senior point of escalation for Major IT service incidents and problems
  • Where appropriate acting as Senior Responsible Officer for specified IT projects
  • Being responsible for the Infrastructure Services capital and operational spend budgets, identifying efficiencies and cost savings
  • Establishing positive internal partner relationships across business lines and central functions, to ensure services are aligned to business objectives and priorities
  • Working with Government, Police & Resourcing and Defence business change teams to ensure technology elements of business change projects are delivered on time and to budget
  • Developing trusted client relationships, working with IT Management team and wider Business lines to maintain positive client relationships and promote the work of IT and the wider SSCL business
  • Contributing to the development of the wider SSCL IT strategy and operating model

What you'll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in leading and running Infrastructure support and engineering professionals of c80 FTE’s
  • Experienced in leading and handling Infrastructure Service functions including IT operations, infrastructure, application and end user support and engineering delivery, in a sophisticated business environment
  • Experience in management of cloud-based infrastructure platforms, application stacks and tooling (MS Azure and / or AWS).
  • A proven background in the management of IT infrastructure technologies such as HP & Dell server and SAN / NAS storage hardware, MS server OS, MS AD and virtualisation technologies such as Vmware.
  • Broad technical understanding of network and telephony solutions, Cisco Networks, LAN / WAN / Wifi Technologies, RAS, DNS, DHCP, telephony platforms (Avaya, Maintel, AWS Connect), Teamwork and VC tools etc
  • Demonstrable understanding of MS application technology stack including MS Teams, Sharepoint, Dynamics CRM
  • Sound knowledge and experience in ITIL v3 (ideally v4) service lifecycle including service strategy, design, transition, operation and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of common project and technology change delivery methodologies – Agile, Prince 2, MSP, APM etc
  • Experience in leading 3rd party supplier and partner service delivery, with strong commercial savvy
  • Experience of handling technology BAU and project change and integration activities delivered in both waterfall and Agile / DevOps approaches
  • Knowledge of and experience of working within common IT Security standards including ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials plus
  • Experienced in delivering continuous improvement through both formal and informal methods
  • Strong partner engagement and client leadership skills, including an appreciation of the complexities of delivery across multiple clients and sectors
