About the role

Reporting to the Energy Efficiency Principal Consultant, the Energy Consultant works closely with all members of the team, both advisory and commercial. External relationships are a key part of the role, liaising with project teams, clients, overseas offices, and representatives from partner organisations.

Our Energy Consultants manage and lead project teams to help our clients address energy management challenges in a commercially sensitive manner.

Our Energy Consultants:

  • Proactively support clients with their quantitative and qualitative targets;
  • Visit client sites to undertake energy audits, including detailed analysis of BMS, HVAC, Net Zero measures, including calculation of energy breakdown, costs and savings of recommended measures.
  • Identify potential energy cost savings and coordinating the investigation and resolution of energy wastage with the client’s stakeholders;
  • Performance Reporting, including providing expert advice surrounding the outputs;
  • Track of energy efficiency projects/programmes, including ESOS;
  • Support key stakeholders (ranging from C-suite to on-site staff), with specialist advice;
  • Create consistent measurement and verification protocols, tailored to the specific needs of the client;
  • Ownership and development of process documentation, e.g. energy audit templates and ways of working;
  • Support the Commercial team with writing proposals and support with ongoing account management

About you

You will have:

  • Detailed knowledge of issues surrounding climate change, energy management, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability, likely gained through a degree in a related subject or with relevant industry experience;
  • Understanding of legislative requirements, including ESOS, Mandatory GHG Reporting, MCPD, EU / UK ETS and a familiarity with ISO 14001 and 50001;
  • Experience around desk-based review of energy data and delivering on-site building energy audits;
  • Ability to produce high quality written reports to suit varying audiences (technical and non-technical);
  • Excellent data handling skills and advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to produce well-presented, error-free results;
  • Experience working in a consultative manner to understand client needs and guide them to a solution, preferably demonstrated through client consulting engagements in the private sector;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak and present information with confidence in front of an audience, lead client workshops and represent EcoAct externally;
  • Effective writing skills, with an ability to write concise, compelling and well-structured documents and reports;
  • Strong commercial skills, with an ability to project manage and deliver on time within budget;

Location

The role will be based in our central London office with a flexible blend of home and office working. The successful applicant will be required to travel within the UK to client sites on a weekly basis, increasing during times of high demand, such as during ESOS period.
