National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) are seeking a Delivery Improvement Engineer to standardise and improve engineering solutions and work delivery approach, and to identify best practice and lead on improvement activities in Electricity Transmission (ET) Asset Operations (AO) Delivery Zones.

We’d hope to see you in either one of our office or site locations at least one day per week and you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Establish, prioritise, and drive improvement activities in work delivery to reduce costs through innovation and communicating best engineering practice
  • Support operational delivery teams to enable improvement of processes and performance to reduce OPEX and CAPEX expenditure
  • Support in driving a commercial engineering culture within Asset Operations

About you

As the Delivery Improvement Engineer, you will have understanding and working knowledge of business processes, excellent stakeholder management, business writing and communication skills, and experience of continuous improvement, as well as:

  • Knowledge of engineering, and substations, encompassing electrical, mechanical, civil and excellent technical knowledge relating to the electrical and safety aspects of substation plant.
  • A general understanding of electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes
  • MS Office skills and project delivery experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or Apprenticeship in Engineering subject or Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Qualification
