Functieomschrijving

For our Nootdorp office we are looking for a Senior Computer Vision Software Developer. You play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of cutting edge real time video and computer vision solutions. You are responsible for delivering products and solutions that should enable Fugro's strategic initiatives on automation, robotizing and remote operations within Fugro’s service offerings. You develop software solutions and algorithms in a multidisciplinary Agile team of hardware, software and firmware developers working towards a focused and common goal.

Fugro’s proprietary computer-vision products are used in the offshore marine domain where they detect, track, position and reconstruct 3D objects.

Your role

  • You innovate and develop the next generation computer vision and video technologies to power Fugro’s remote, robotized and autonomous operations in the marine/offshore industry;
  • You implement computing algorithms for real time image acquisition and computer vision processing on desktop and embedded platforms;
  • You develop user interfaces serving to provide visualizations, quality control, data logging and reporting in our integrated desktop software suite as well as in web applications;
  • You are a team player in our Agile development team and take ownership of the entire life-cycle of the product development, from research to prototyping and design, implementation and maintenance & support. You collaborate with product owners and engineers from other disciplines to develop designs and specifications and you work with other engineering teams to develop API’s;
  • You contribute to overall system architecture. You provide technical leadership and innovation to improve developer productivity, product reliability and overall system resiliency.

Day to day, this role requires not just technical skills and understanding of best practices, but also the pursuit of a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and understanding of Fugro’s operational challenges that the product/solution needs to solve. In order to be successful, you need to actively broaden your knowledge in the quest for the simplest and most robust solutions that will power Fugro's operations and business.

About the team

The team, with various backgrounds, builds and maintains a suite of applications which perform accurate measurements using cameras offshore. Two of the solutions we maintain are InclinoCam and QuickVision that are used for positioning marine assets in real time.

Our current development is a Smart Subsea Camera system, which will perform a variety of subsea metrological tasks, and which will help provide autonomy on the new underwater vehicle Fugro Blue Volta e-ROV.

We are involved in the design and interfacing of the cameras systems, the computer vision and geometrical algorithms which perform the computations, integration in the broader Starfix data acquisition system (including the user interface and reporting), and initial rollout support. This all happens in close collaboration with our operational colleagues.

Your track record

  • You have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent and you have several years of experience, with object-oriented software development in a team setting;
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • You have the willingness to learn and work with C#, C++ programming languages;
  • You have an interest in developing computer vision applications;
  • It’s a plus if you are experienced with:
  • Object oriented software design, Design Patterns (‘gang of four’) and SOLID principles;
  • C#, WPF, ASP.NET;
  • CUDA and the Nvidia Jetson architecture;
  • Basic Linux system administration;
  • Clean Code and Test Driven Development;
  • Computer Vision;
  • DevOps and DevOps tooling;
  • Affinity to work with hardware;
  • Basic electronics (cabling, serial protocols, bonus points if you know how to use a oscilloscope.

What Fugro offers

  • A competitive salary;
  • 29 holidays per year based on a fulltime employment (of which 4 are appointed by Fugro management) and the possibility to purchase 12 additional days;
  • Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally;
  • Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies;
  • Commuting allowance;
  • Modern pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance;
  • Possibility to register with our corporate fitness plan;
  • Coaching options through our EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
