To help us achieve our mission, we’re looking for a Privacy Counsel to join our Legal team and help us supporting the globally expanding business of EVBox on all privacy matters, delivering diligent and professional management of all the queries as the main point of contact for the business.

Our ideal candidate excels in dealing with data privacy compliance in complex technology-related matters and software strategy projects and knows how to balance compliance and protection with data enablement for the benefit of the company and its commercial activities.

This role has the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in dealing with data protection in the growing EV charging industry, be involved in a wide variety of matters to put your knowledge into practice, have a full ownership of the privacy compliance program, and be part of a young, ambitious and internationally diverse Legal team. You will work from our office in Amsterdam and report to the Managing Counsel, Compliance and Employment from the Legal team.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Serve as Privacy Counsel for all legal entities of EVBox Group globally.
  • Own, develop, implement, and keep under regular review data protection policies, procedures, guidelines, templates.
  • Implement measures and ensure data processing in compliance with the GDPR (datamapping, third party reviews, DPIAs; negotiate DPAs).
  • Maintain mandatory registers.
  • Cooperate closely and proactively with key internal stakeholders to ensure privacy measures are embedded into the activities throughout EVBox Group, monitor compliance, identify the need for action.
  • Partner with business in developing data driven solutions to improve customer experience.
  • Provide pragmatic data protection advice to meet strategic goals and business interests.
  • Manage data subject requests, data breaches, supervisory authorities’ inquiries.
  • Develop and conduct trainings on data protection compliance for employees.
  • Manage data protection audits and follow up on findings.
  • Monitor and follow up on applicable laws, regulations, and market developments in data protection.
  • Generally, provide hands-on support in structuring EVBox Group’s global growth.
  • Aptitude to thrive working in a fast-paced, high-pressure, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Be a team player with the ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and cross-functionally, as well as think creatively.
  • Be able to navigate deliverables across varying time zones and differing departments within EVBox.
  • Get the job done in the right way, ensuring that delivery is done in a collaborative, positive and constructive manner.

You have:

  • Master’s degree in law, preferably specialized in privacy and data protection.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of work experience in a similar role, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Experience in the software industry is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of EU data protection legislation (GDPR, ePrivacy). Knowledge of U.S. privacy laws is a plus.
  • Experience in building and operating a data privacy program.
  • CIPP/E, CIPM or similar certification is a plus.
  • Experience with OneTrust is a plus.
  • Good understanding of technical and information security concepts and interest in technology.
  • Ability to provide sound advice and guidance on legal and business-related matters to business leaders.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Excellent clear communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective cross-functional working relationships, customer centrism, consulting skills and service-solution-oriented mindset.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong integrity and sound judgement.
