The Opportunity

Based at our Filton site, where we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft, we are seeking a new Engineering Applications Specialist. There is flexibility for the successful candidate to work from home for up to 90% of the time and to travel to site twice a month. The incumbent will be part of our CoE Engineering IT function supporting our Civil and Defence programmes for our UK sites as an integral part of the wider IT applications team and the global IT organisation, the position will report to the Global CAD\CAM\CAE Manager. The Engineering Applications Specialist will provide the business global engineering application support delivering best practices around the development and configuration of CAD\CAM\CAE applications and solutions in line with business requirements and the IT operating model. As a trusted partner to the business, you will work alongside the IT business partners, project management office, compliance, security and IT operations teams.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

  • Work collaboratively, professionally and openly as part of the CoE team
  • Provide 3rd line technical application support in disciplines including enterprise deployment, license hosting & monitoring, application environment management, change control, version upgrading and retiring and cross domain toolbox consolidation & sharing
  • Work within the ITSM incident and request management framework ensuring engineering business continuity is maintained and our global project management demand stream delivers local and global improvement projects
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to resolve engineering functional and business requirements into technical solutions
  • Support functional acceptance testing for new application rollouts
  • Virtual and physical support of users located at various sites across Europe, US and Asia
  • Coordinate the resolution of toolset issues with software vendors

Essential:

  • Significant engineering applications focused IT experience
  • Experience of supporting a variety of stakeholders to a senior level
  • Experience of working cross functionally
  • Experience of supporting continuous improvement projects
  • Experience of IT service management (helpdesk) including change control
  • Experience of creating and delivering technical presentations
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • A relevant BSc Degree in an Engineering or IT discipline
  • Manufacturing or Aerospace industry experience
  • Experience of CAD\CAM\CAE
  • Experience of Enterprise Application Deployment techniques
  • Experience of Microsoft SCCM or Visio
  • Experience of Lean or ITIL processes
  • Experience of application licensing and monitoring
