Framestore is one of the largest visual effects and computer animation studios in Europe, with over 30 years experience in digital film and video technology. With offices in London, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montréal, Vancouver, Mumbai, and Melbourne, Framestore’s expertise includes visual effects and computer-generated imagery.

We are seeking to recruit a Mid/Senior Pipeline Technical Director to join the team, initially focussing on supporting and improving a wide range of pipeline workflows, aiming to lead and develop some of the larger development projects within the Integrated Advertising division. They will work within the global pipeline team, supporting a broad range of live-action and computer-generated projects with a variety of digital content including theme park rides, commercials, brand work, episodic, immersive, and features. This role is UK based but can be done remotely from anywhere in the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Further support, engineering, and development of the pipeline across Framestore Integrated Advertising projects
  • Working in collaboration with 2D and CG Supervisors and department leads to determine the best solutions
  • Support and maintenance of tools including troubleshooting and optimisation
  • Thorough documentation of all development and updating as necessary
  • Ongoing research to recommend improvements to workflows in order to improve productivity or communication
  • Leading other members of the team in the above responsibilities
  • Code reviews
  • Progressing the code base towards simplicity and elegance

Job requirements

Essential Skills:

  • The ability to engineer and develop for a large software project
  • Excellent Python and Linux skills
  • Experience developing for a Visual Effects application such as Maya, Houdini, or Nuke
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Detail-orientated with a strong ability to multi-task
  • A good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting through to compositing
  • An excellent knowledge of networking and performance issues that arise with automated tools
  • Experience in advising other members of a team

Desirable Skills:

  • Visual effects production experience
  • A degree in Computer Science
  • Windows development experience
