The Business Risk Manager will cover for the current Business Risk Manager who will be taking maternity leave from October 2022. You will be part of the Risk and Resilience team supporting the firm by helping to ensure that business areas comply with our key risk management processes.

You will be providing ongoing support to the firm’s Service Lines and business functions to facilitate a step change in our risk culture. The role will involve working with stakeholders across all levels of seniority to ensure risk management requirements are understood and met as well as coaching our risk champions.

A look into the role

As a Business Risk Manager within our Risk and Resilience team, you will:

  • Work alongside the Enterprise Risk Manager to coordinate monthly Risk processes such as ensuring business areas have provided their updates and undertaking risk analysis
  • Being a point of contact to support risk owners and risk champions – reviewing and resolving their queries
  • Assisting with the production of quarterly reporting packs – flagging key risk changes, events, trends and emerging risks to ensure key messages are communicated
  • Assisting with updates to the Risk Management Framework policy, Risk Taxonomy and Risk Appetite statement
  • Development and upkeep of training material inc. delivery of Risk Management learning and resources for Risk Champions, Risk Owners and others internal parties through the provision of information, guidance and support
  • Organising and delivering/ assisting in risk review workshops and interviews
  • Working with Internal Audit to support pre and post internal audit activities (scope building, action implementation)
  • Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the firm's various business and internal control processes working collaboratively across all areas within Quality and Reputation to maximise risk management’s contribution to the firm

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Business Risk Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is knowledge and experience working in a Enterprise or Operational Risk Management role, Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues of all levels, and have strong oral and written communication skills. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Experience of working in a professional firm
  • Independently minded; proven ability to work on own initiative, plan own workload and motivating others
  • Critical thinker with strong organisational and analytical skills and the ability to demonstrate sound judgement and objectivity when approaching problem solving
  • Strong role model, promoting a culture of continuous risk management improvement
  • Confidence to interact and influence stakeholders at all levels of the firm demonstrating both listening and challenging skills as appropriate to the situation
