Who is Lightyear?
Lightyear is an innovative and progressive scale-up with one mission: clean mobility for everyone, everywhere.
Lightyear originates from the legacy as a multiple world championship of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenger® Cruiser Class. Officially established in 2016 by 5 visionaries with the dream to make this groundbreaking technology accessible to everyone, everywhere. In order to accelerate the transition towards a truly sustainable solution for mobility, we believe that it is necessary to completely rethink automotive design by starting from scratch, not limited by industry conventions.
At Lightyear, we all strive for the same goal. We have a team with diverse skill sets and backgrounds; all working tirelessly towards clean mobility for everyone, everywhere. We’re proud of our culture and live up to our core values: think independently, be bold, deliver the change, put people first and take responsibility. Our shared vision is what unites and drives us.
Which team will you become part of?
You will be part of the Customer Support team, within the Sales and Customer Support circle.
The Customer Support team is responsible for supporting Lightyear customers in getting the most out of their Lightyear products during everyday use. Sure, you’ve heard it a hundred times - but for the Customer Support team, the customer really does come first! Like a well engineered machine, the team is composed of customer care specialists, logistics and operations experts, and specialized engineers, acting as the one-stop-shop for questions, requests, feedback, and issues that customers may have. You will also work together with the Product Management and Engineering teams of Lightyear 2, the high-volume solar electric car that Lightyear is planning to bring to market in 2024/2025.
Your personal mission
As the Lightyear 2 Service Strategy intern, your mission is to analyze strategies for maintaining and repairing our customers’ cars, such as remote service (over-the-air), mobile service vans and traditional workshop repairs. You will focus on translating these different strategies into tangible business parameters (costs, revenue, FTE).
What makes this assignment so exciting, besides contributing to our mission? Lightyear is a young automotive company and, contrary to most automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), not bound to a fixed infrastructure of workshops and partners. This provides the opportunity to set up an efficient and scalable Customer Support network that creates the best customer experience. Your tasks include, but are not limited to:
Requirements in order to achieve your personal mission
What you bring along as a talented intern
What do we offer
In addition to a challenging (graduate) internship you also have the opportunity to work for a company with a real, honest and ambitious mission. In this way you have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the future of mobility! Next to this, we also offer:
At Lightyear we are building an electric car that charges itself. From our experience at Solar Team Eindhoven, we know this is only possible starting from scratch. At Lightyear we bring together a multidisciplinary team of highly motivated engineers, designers, and visionaries to challenge the status quo. Write the story with us!
"Lightyear is an exceptional team that puts together people from all over the world with the same goal of creating a meaningful positive impact in our society. I felt welcome from the very first day and working with such motivated engineers gives me the energy I need to do my best every day."
"Lightyear is een geweldig bedrijf om voor te werken. Het voelt voor mij meer als familie dan een werkgever. Klinkt misschien een beetje heftig, maar het is zo. Je maakt makkelijk vrienden op werk: iedereen is vriendelijk, behulpzaam en zo gemotiveerd om echt een verschil te maken in de wereld.”
