Will work across all brands, but primary focus will be supporting Vrbo VAT compliance.

Position Overview:

Senior Accountant II responsible for VAT controllership, oversight & accounting.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for controllership & oversight of worldwide VAT compliance & controls, directly or in liaison with outsourced providers
  • Responsible for month-end close journal entries necessary within VAT asset and liability accounts
  • Responsible for preparing reconciliations of VAT balance sheet accounts for designated Group companies, in line with Group reconciliation & SOX policies
  • Liaising with partners in Treasury, Corporate AP and certain tax authorities regarding VAT payments
  • Liaising with in-house Tax team regarding support and preparation of VAT information for statutory and tax authority VAT audit requests & enquiries
  • Setting up accounting, compliance, controls and payment processes for new VAT registrations
  • Designing, building and improving Alteryx workflows to automate and improve manual & repetitive tasks, modernise Finance processes
  • Supporting in providing metrics to Finance leadership on VAT filings, payments & refunds
  • Supporting in statutory preparation & review of annual accounts for several EMEA legal entities
  • Other complex ad hoc projects as needed

Who you are:

  • Accounting qualifications or equivalent related professional experience
  • Strong Excel user, adept at manipulating large datasets
  • Fluent English language speaker, additional languages a bonus. Clear and concise written communication style
  • Keen interest in learning new technology & tools to automate manual processes - e.g. Tableau & Alteryx
  • University Accounting qualifications, preferably ACA qualified or in the process of ACA study
  • 3-4 years experience in Accounting roles (Big 4 preferred with some in-house experience)
